In short, anyone figured out how to do this? I have been all through the websites, dl'd the navi extras software, registered on the website etc etc, and what I think I am missing is the cable to plug the USB stick into the unit. I have tried to plug the USB stick into the cable from the glove box but the head unit simply recognises this as a mass storage device without any songs.

Checking all the manuals it seems there is a USB cable available to go straight into Nav unit. For clarity my unit is an Alpine IVA w520r (this doesnt have the removable blackbird unit). The nav device (NVE-M300p) is a separate unit mounted somewhere behind the dash i guess!!??

Anyone else with this unit and any suggestions, I am all ears!

ps unit works faultlesly synching to my phone etc, just wanted to update the maps!

thanks

many thanks for that, in days following that post I found the USB slot under the dash, its a separate connection to the ipod bit. However it still didnt do anything when I plugged it in, the USB stick I was using had an LED that refused to light up so I am now thinking that its not connected? Anyway I am out of the country at the moment but will look into this when I am back.

Thanks again

was freshly formatted but had the naviextras stuff dl'd onto it, can try with a completly empty one. I would hate to have to pull the unit apart to see if the other end is attached! One for Lotus if it gets that far!

right i have tried for over an hour going through various menu's and contorting myself into strange positions in the footwell and as much as I can tell, the only reason its not working is that I dont think the other end of the cable going to the NVE-300p map unit is connected. The end I can see dissapears behind the bulkhead and as far as i can tell there is no way of finding the nav unit without pulling the dash to bits - not something I am gonna try. If any other owner, can confirm that all you need to do is plug in a USB stick with navi stuff on it and follow the onscreen instructions that would seem to confirm my suspisions. When I plug my mem stick in - nothing happens. I tried with various memsticks so I dont think thats the issue! Thanks again to previous posters.

Just for closure - took the Car to B&C on Weds who tested the cable and confirmed it was faulty, Alpine sent new cable the same day, car will be collected tomorrow. Happy days!

Thanks again

As above, the USB port you need is in the passenger footwell, its not visable from drivers seat, and not the one you use for music. Access is easiest via passenger side, once you find it, the instructions you were following should work fine.
