I feel sorry for him. Fergie was an utter legend, he beat as many teams as the players did. Moyes has a good track record but I don't think anyone realised how big the shoes were to fill. There still seems a huge void in the club left by Fergie and I am not sure anyone could have come close to filling that. That said, I do think a higher profile manager could have been better from that point than Moyes.
I was all for giving him more time, but this last defeat makes me think there's no point in giving him a huge transfer kitty in the summer...only for him to be out by Christmas and the next Manager "burdened" with the 4 x Fellaini's that Moyes will have spent the £100 million on in the Summer.
Liverpool are favourites before the game at Old Trafford yesterday....f**k right off ! It may be and other Managers have used these mind games at times - but this was not the time. We need conviction from the Manager, not to admit we're second best before the start of the game.
Waiting 70 minutes to make a substitution ? Playing Mata on the wing ?
What exactly is Moyes doing for his wages ? Managing last seasons Champions, an ageing squad yes...but why have all these players had such a monumental loss of form within a few months of winning the title. The tactics just seem non-existent.
I was never for Mourinho coming to Old Trafford with all the fanfare that surrounds him...but the bloke is a winner and top of the league.
I'd rather have had him come with his media circus that surrounds him...than the dross we are watching right now and a Manager who looks
defeated / clueless.
I can't see us getting through this week - God that hurts to say that , I always believed we could overturn any 1st leg defeat under Fergie no matter how bad things looked. I'd like to see us have a real go, if we don't get through then fair enough, anything less and he is not the Manager for our great club - and it's time to move on.

I think he'll go at the end of the season, no point in doing it now. The brand of football they are playing doesn't excite anyone - not even their own players. I can't see a) anyone wanting to join under him especially with no CL; and b) the Glazers giving him the 100m which needs to be spent.

I wouldn't say I feel sorry for Moyes but I do think it would be unfair to sack him and place the blame on him for a horrendous season. For me Fergie needs to hold his hands up and take responsibility for leaving him probably the worst squad United have had in the modern era.
I'm not a united fan but I think it is 100% this. Fergie knew stepping down after winning the PL would be going out on a high he wouldn't be able to replicate again any time soon with that squad.MattyH84 said:

Worst squad maybe, but still last years champions. You don't go from that to this in just one short season break.
Was delighted with the result yesterday (obviously) but what really stuck in my mind was watching Moyes reaction - he spent half the game sat in his seat, on interaction, and it appeared no clue.

I really hope things pick up a bit and they finish 5th.
Thursday night trips to the st holes of Europe will really screw them up and they'll never get any decent players to come.
Finish 7th and we could se a Liverpool type recovery.
Currently I'm loving it
Thankfully City won the Milk Cup so that means an extra Euro place for the league. We can only hope for the Spud implosion into mid-table being quicker than the Utd one I think.Thursday night trips to the st holes of Europe will really screw them up and they'll never get any decent players to come.

Anyone can see the current United squad isn’t as good as in previous years (the midfield looks particularly rubbish, whoever plays), but the front 3 are all supposedly World Class – Rooney’s just signed a £300k/wk deal, RVP cost £25M (plus c.£200k/wk) and Mata cost £37M. Surely they should be able to conjure up more than the one shot on target they managed between them yesterday?

He did a great job for us, but our expectations were low when he took over and he was able to develop a team over time, it's a different situation at OT and I genuinely think he's been shocked at results this season and now looks lost. Gone in the summer or sooner I reckon, just hope he bounces back.
