Interesting change of emphasis from BR. Rather than the "we are in it for the longterm; we want to build something special; I hope to be here for 15 years blabla... yesterday it was:
"I'm not arrogant to think I'll be in a job through anything. You have to win games. I've got a great communication line with the owners - we are honest and open with each other. But we have to get results and perform."
Unless a miracle happens, I rather think he'll be gone by xmas. If we're out of the CL this week, I think that might concentrate thinking at FSG...

I remember looking at Spurs last season and thinking bringing in so many new players all at once was a huge mistake. They would have been better placed to bring in 3 quality players and then reassess in January if one or two extra additions were needed. Repeating that exact same process after seeing the Spurs failure smacks of stupidity. I have said it many times on here that you HAVE to bring in quality. What is the old saying that has rung true for many years? Quality not quantity? I really believe Rodgers wanted to be the poster boy that would be seen as someone who can develop raw talent into world class ability. Unfortunately that only works in very few cases. The vast majority will remain mediocre, as decades of ex-Liverpool managers have found out. You HAVE to supplement potential with proven quality.
Then his stubbornness and single-minded approach prevails. He plays players that continually under perform. He selects them based on their history rather than their present form. Some players are still making the same defensive mistakes as last season yet he refuses to bring in a new defensive coach. If things aren't working as a manager you need to be dynamic enough to change things. And make those changes quickly, not let the rot set in and then come up with honesty: "As a manager the full responsibility comes to me, and any pressure that comes with that falls on me". Well don't keep repeating the same mistakes that you are doing. Listen to what people are saying - Carragher, Neville et al are just echoing what is being said on this forum time again by so-called keyboard warriors. If we warriors can see it, why can't you?

Good post and one thing I would add is that he has lost the older players respect and confidence hence they are not playing for him. I think rumour of dressing room issues will come out over the next week or so.
Agreed something has gone wrong at the core of the squad, it could be a number of things, Balo, tactics, lack of contracts for expensed pro's, who knows. The simple fact is we are a shower at the moment, who can't score and can't defend. We aren't a sacking club as such, but by Jan things need to be improving.
IMO Bodge doesn't view success just by winning games. I think his ego can't accept being wrong, hence his refusal to take on defensive help. I also think his ego couldn't stop him from being drawn to Balotelli, he wanted to be the manager that achieved what every other has failed to do.
I haven't got a problem in his belief of the style of football that we should play, the death by football possession style he favours can work with the right players, we saw that game after game last season. BUT that was more than just about him and was clearly further shaped by Suarez. Its his style of play, his belief and I wouldn't expect anyone to start changing something that is core to them.
What the club needs to decide is whether that style of football is what will get us competing again. My personal opinion is that it is too slow, too predictable and in the end isn't potent enough going forward nor tight enough at the back.
He's had his moment at the top as far as I'm concerned, there is no way things are going to be transformed before January. Why would it? He'll continue with the following and we'll continue with the same results.
- Mignolet has exceptional shot stopping but his poor command of the box and useless distribution will mean we look frail at the back all the time
- Lovren and Skrtel as our 1st choice centre backs, 2 players that actually don't seem to play well together. Forget the question of whether Lovren is good enough, the partnership is also questionable.
- Glen Johnson being guaranteed a start, not good enough at right back lad, its ok, play at left back ahead of our 2 first choice left backs
- Gerrard playing as a deep midfielder for every minute of every game
- Joe Allen continuing to be given a chance
- Playing Coutinho, Sterling and Lallana behind a single striker, there's just not enough goals in these 3. Behind the right single striker I'm sure their assists and goals would increase but Balotelli/Lambert/Borini on their own ahead of these 3 lacks the movement we need in a single striker
- He'll carry on playing Balotelli, and he'll carry on playing him as a lone striker
We all know what needs to be put in place to improve. Sometimes when you're too close to something you just can't see it. Other times you're so secure in your own belief that you're right and everyone else is wrong. There are times when you just don't have the experience so rely and the people around you that do - if you haven't got these people then you're in trouble. And of course there are times when you're just not a strong enough leader. I see all of this when I look at Bodge.
Dead man walking.

I dont agree with your comments on Allen. The rest is spot on. Rodgers has chosen to chop and change the team each week, playing 3 natural number tens instead of 1. That 1 would be Lallana on current form behind two strikers. A weak defense has no effective cover from an increasingly poor captain and yet Rodgers blames individual mistakes. There is a good side there waiting to be picked but Rodgers and his third grade backroom staff just cannot see it.I haven't got a problem in his belief of the style of football that we should play, the death by football possession style he favours can work with the right players, we saw that game after game last season. Ansolutely spot on. He is too close and his ego for sure prevents him from seeing the bigger picture. Sometimes I wonder what is actually going on his head when he stands by the touchline, arms folded with that blank expression on his face. The absolute great managers are able to take a step back from the situation and make emotion-less decisions that are the best for the team.
Thing is...how many Liverpool managers in the past would have said those things about Spurs or Southampton? What arrogance. He has 1 really good season and it all goes to his head. He leaves his frumpy wife, bleaches his teeth, takes up with a good looking blonde, pontificates about other teams. And all the while, the performances disappear, the team slides backwards, nothing improves, constant moans about "lack of preparation time"...
I'd respect him far more if he STFU, kept his private life private and got on with the job he's paid to do. And recognised when he's wrong.

As much as I hate the way we're playing, I respect him for taking responsibility, and genuinely hope he stays until the end of the season.
The focus is all wrong, it is not our defence, it isn't even Balotelli (massively unjust scapegoat imo), it is our midfield poncing about with the ball and not moving forward with pace and purpose.
BR has to take responsibility for that, let’s hope he sorts it out.

Our midfield has no-one to pass to and is terrified of losing it as our keystone cops defence cant defend so safest play is to keep it in the middle - the main priority is the defence first then build on it - thing is we have signed every second rate or todays hero defender there is, so much so we sold a few and loaned a few - we are clueless in setting up a defence and the rot started before Bren however he has amazingly made it worse. Wednesday I think we will win maybe 0-1 or 1-2 and paper over the cracks for a week or so
