The irony is that win may keep ETH in a job… which is probably what we’d all like on here hehe
Surely the possibility of Southgate taking charge post Euro 2024 is still the best comedy outcome?

Surely too much to hope for?

I don't think Radcliffe will let him stay. He's more likely to want new blood to commit to a longer term project.

We can dream Chris. smile

Having not picked Rashford for the England squad it would be even funnier as that's guarateed to have caused a rift in what was apparently a good relationship.

He's not justified staying at the end of the day IMHO. Yes they've won the FA Cup today, but dropping from 3rd in the PL in his first season to 8th in his second scoring 15 fewer points is very much the opposite of progress.

I wanted a large meteorite to land on Wembley stadium at precisely 3pm today.

Failing that, I wanted the team that played the best to win. Much to my surprise, the best team were United, who played a low block really well and countered excellently, especially first half.

Credit to Man Utd, they deserved the win today.

He's also had to deal with more injuries than any other PL team, barely had his first choice CB pairing all season or defence for that matter. So yes, I'd expect their progress to be hindered somewhat, which of course has been enjoyable. Their midfield also kind of went to sh!t similar to ours last season, Casemiro now understandably a shadow of his former self, Eriksen and Amrabat just plain terrible. Despite the above, they were still just 8pts off a CL spot.

However, seeing United concede the most shots of any team in Europe might be his downfall still.

The number of days injured is the most important stat in that article I'd suggest.

Newcastle also had Tonali banned for the season and still finished above them, as did Chelsea. Add to that their second season with a woeful goal scoring record under ETH and you can see why he's been under fire.

And, lest we forget, it wasn't that long ago that we went through a season with no fit CBs at all and ended up drafting in 2 that were nowhere near the first team at the time, who stepped up. And we finished 3rd.

Speaking of our team at the time it was great to see Nat Phillips on the pitch, when Klopp said his farewells last Sunday :-)

Yeah I thought that too. Despite Klopp clearly not wanting him in his first team (or even close) after that season, there's no resentment there.

I know it’s silly season but linked with Ederson the no.6 from Atalanta for c.40m

He did look good

We were heavily linked with Andre (remember him!) - apparently we had a £25m bid turned down for him last summer, not because Fluminese didn't want to sell but because they wanted to win the Copa Libertadores. Which they did.

At £25m, not sure why we wouldn't be back in for him?

A new sporting director (and assistant), whole new management team and a new head of analytics I think also might be a good reason. smile

True, although it's possible Ward may have had some input (analytics) into that bid prior to him leaving last summer?

The fee and his age (22) is definitely FSG-friendly. Whether the data suggests he's one of the best who knows but from the very little I've seen of him, he seems all action.

Tim Vickery did a piece on him along with a few alternatives last summer and his summary suggested he'd be the type we would be after.

Stays injury-free too based on the last two seasons: 60 and 61 games played, in what is a tough tackling position. Be interesting who they go for, as it's the one key position we definitely need someone high calibre.

Yeah, we don't know if Slot (like Klopp) sees Bajcetic as a #6 - not his natural position (or preference, I read). Endo at his best is decent but Slot is unlikely to want to rely on him this season, of course, given his age. I suspect of all the positions in our team a 6 to cover the back 4 and break up play will be a priority. Someone with experience at a top level though, I would think - unless they ID someone they think will step up quickly.

Interested to see just how much business we do this Summer given the almost 100% turnover in staff who's job it is to ID and buyplayers.

Until everyone new, is in place and up and running, I'd take any links to players with a huge pinch of salt.

It's slow news football wise until the Euros, so the press will make up any old bks.

If this is old I apologise but it made me laugh .

Apparently yul brynner was a lifelong Liverpool fan .It’s also a little known fact that he refused to put on aftershave .

That’s right ..yul never wore cologne .

Bajcetic is too injury prone to be a reliable #6
