We had a distinct advantage at the start of the summer; Man City. Chelsea & Man Utd all with new managers, now were playing in the transfer window and doing an absolutely terrible job of it!
Yep, this was the first thing i said when fungus face retired. The three strongest teams destabilised by management change and a great chance for us to push on and what do we have, Gazidis clearly cant negotiate for st.

To the tune of the Cazorla Malaga song.

Gonzalo. Ooh a ohh.
Gonzalo. Ooh a ohh.
He came from Real Madrid.
To score more than the Yids.

I hope you don't end up mugging yourself off that's all I can say.

Don't know if you're a regular on the football forums but that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

So Moyes says Shrek is not for sale and will remain at united. Not really bothered about that, never began to think he would join us if he did leave.
Rooney to Arsenal seems a massive long shot, and not one that excites me.

I watched Moyes press conference, when asked if Rooney was committed to the club all he said was "he's trained fantastically for the last two days".

Rooney wants out, they won't let him leave and I don't blame them.

You can give it all the bravado you like, I'll guarantee you'll feel different if Higuain doesn't sign. You will just look a fool.

Contrast that to the total lack of backbone shown by our board year after year!

Bravado?

If Wenger wins a major trophy this year you'll also look like a fool.

Only a bit of fun Alfa, relax a little. You can mug me off all you like if he doesn't sign.

I notice you say if in relation to Wenger winning a trophy, that doesn't sound like someone with total confidence in the manager.

On the later point, I have no desire to mug you off. I just think you and others like you are getting well ahead of yourselves at the moment.

Blame the papers. Seems that the only thing that could throw this deal off is a failed medical if the (multiple) reports are to be believed.

Blame the papers because you're getting ahead of yourself.

Have a word with yourself.

.. I just hope he avoids Bendtner and Frimpong in the corridors before he signs. That could be enough to put him off. hehe

What are you on about? Getting ahead of myself? The papers are saying a transfer fee with madrid is agreed and the contract details are agreed and he is in london/going to london to have a medical. Not the star, the Guardian for example are reporting this. The only other club reported to be in for him have signed an alternative.

It's not official I know but there is evidence to suggest this is actually happening.

If your online personality reflects your real one, then I've never known someone so pessimistic. And that's not an assumption based solely on this transfer window.

I've supported Arsenal for 27 years, I've seen just about everything both good and bad. It's hard not to get excited by the suggestion that were about to make a signing, however we've been disappointed before and if the reports are to be believed this has been an extremely protracted transfer without any apparent explanation.

I'm not pessimistic person per se, however I can understand your comments. I'm generally a very level headed person, however when it comes to my football club that isn't always the case.

If you want to get over excited about a player without knowing 100% that he is going to sign for Arsenal then go right ahead. I'll get excited when and if he becomes an Arsenal player.

There is still plenty of time and plenty of ways for Arsenal to fk it up.

I'm excited by the rumors, but at the same time I am very apprehensive that it could easily fall through at anytime.

I am also worried at the lack of links to any other players.

Signing Higuain would only balance out RvPs departure, we still haven't gone forward.

He seems to be after a midfield player...had a bid for Lars Bender rejected

It's also worth remembering that we have one of the youngest squads in the league.....you can definitely argue that the likes of Scezzer, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Wilshere, The Ox, Walcott are all improving through experience. Contrast that with Chelsea where they have a lot of players who are on the other end of that trend.

I can understand your point of view. I too have been supporting Arsenal long enough to remember the bad times as well as the good. Getting linked to every top player in football, (or so it seems) its difficult not to get excited.

Let's hope something gets announced soon as we have a very shallow squad in terms of depth.
