Yeah it’s a pity but let’s face it, our defence holds the responsibility for preventing the shooting opportunities in the first place. He really shouldn’t be peppered every match like this.
Yep, I don't think today he was great on the first two, but the blame overall is the number of times he has to make stops, and that's not down to him at all. He's had a lot of critics, some of it has been OTT (especially earlier in the season), but he has gotten better of late. Issues are entirely ahead of him in the midfield setup really. Not changing it, recognising it, it's remarkable and honestly some clubs would be sacking over it by now. Just what we are doing I don't get any more. Lack of suitable replacements I guess. We've shown enough though we can get back into this, anything can still happen (and you have to think there will be more goals one way or another) so not writing us off yet.
Missed the start, why is the pitch so wet, was there a monsoon or something?

He gets peppered because every team knows he’s a weak link and will try to unsettle him.
There is that too, as I’ve said myself in the past few weeks. Doesn’t change the fact that he’s having to work behind a defence that’s about as solid and organised as a typical under 7’s team. Look at the space and time they’ve been given for both goals today. J6542 said:
The cheating barstewards. They are watering the end united are attacking in the second half and spiking the end they will be attacking.
If only they’d done that in the beginning. Maybe Big Willy wouldn’t have fallen over. That amount of watering seems ridiculous. Isn’t there some kind of PL guideline?
There doesn't appear to be any strategy on the pitch. Just lots of very expensive players blindly trying to work out what to do on the fly.
This is a failure of the coaching team and the manager. They've had long enough. They need to go.
Ultimately Man Utd have had no shortage of financial resources and we're floating around in 7th or so in the league. That's unacceptable.

Agree, the defence is constantly changing in front of him but there’s rarely a quality set up there, just a patchwork quilt of random big name / big money singing, ageing players picking up a pension or youth learning their trade. There is still no midfield at all to speak of. I don’t know why we even bother wasting a name on the team sheets just play 4 up front 1 creative midfielder (with no defences duties) and 5 random squad players in defence.

I agree that the coaching is clearly an issue. I would be surprised if Ten Hag is still here in a few months. Conceding so many shots and being incapable of scoring is a coaching problem. This is a failure of the coaching team and the manager. They've had long enough. They need to go.

Soft, but letter of the law, it’s a penalty. Works for and against us all.
Very soft. Agree we’ve been on the wrong end recently so nice to be on the right end for a change. Bit of a desperate state of affairs when we’re relying on those to get us back into the game though. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
