Tough Europa League group for Rangers but not too bad for Celtic.

Dembele away for almost £20 million!
Good bit of financial buisiness by Celtic but unless they have a rabbit to pull out of the hat last minute it's a poor bit of football business!

If Dembele manages to end his stop start injury period he has the talent to go very far. I thought he would last a bit longer and get a huge salary from the premier league.

There is a lot if unrest at the club recently.

It's a bit late to pull anyone in now.

Eddie and Griff both injury prone so I would have thought even a loan signing for back up!

Griffiths has struggled a lot for a while too. I didn't think Eduard had many injuries?

I’m quite relieved they managed to get rid of him before his stock dropped. £400k to £20M in a couple of years is nuts, I didn’t think he was that good

I think he is is going to be a quality player. It was only £400k as he was out of contract and left England for Scotland. Even a couple of years ago big fees were predicted.

Look what £20m buys in England these days. Google the list and laugh. Dembele is ten times the player now than most of them will ever be.

His stock is only ever going to go up. When he was in form the price tag was much higher than £20m.

It leaves us a bit short until January, but frankly not the end of the world. He has been very inconsistent with injuries and poor performances for a year now, so 20mil is a good deal. He had decided he wanted to go, so better to shift him than have him in a huff moaning about his hamstrings and hardly kicking a ball. Now, the money has to go back into the team - it’s poor planning that isn’t happening this window, but it has to in January.

Fair play to the Celtic board - getting the best part of £20m for Dembele is far beyond what I would’ve expected they’d hold out for. Takes balls to presumably reject £15m+ bids for a player who wants gone.

Let’s hope for some good results from both the teams in the groups for some juicy coefficient points. I do fancy Celtic to do over Rosenborg, maybe home and away. There’s not a team in Rangers’ group you could say the same.

A new challenge for both squads: Celtic with a real chance of progressing, and the majority of Rangers players in there for the first time in their careers.

Hopefully having both in the group stages will help boost the coefficient. 4 qualifying rounds for both CL and Europa is crazy.

Tomorrow’s new firm derby, can anyone else see a win for Rangers? Celtic look vulnerable at the minute.

Rangers best chance for ages but suspect Celtic will have just a little too much experience and quality.

It's the first time it hasn't been a forgone conclusion.

I think Rangers will regret starting the ticket allocation battle. They could do with some support tomorrow.

As I understand it, the clubs have earned points for getting the wins/draws to get into the groups, and receive some coefficient points as a minimum for participating in groups, even if they don’t get any wins or draws.

I’m slightly confused as the Wikipedia page seems to suggest that Europa league and Champions League wins are equally valued. That seems a bit counter intuitive to me, but I suppose the superclubs get enough help as it is!

I'm not sure how it works but I know Celtic earned a st load of points by reaching the UEFA cup final. Getting pumped in the CL, not so many.

Another easy win for Hearts today. 5 points clear already.

Livi beating Hibs is a coupon buster. I thought Livi would go straight back down. Maybe not.

Perfectly on form, Aberdeen are showing no form. Must be frustrating to manage. For good part they looked half decent against away to Burnley in the Euro qualifiers

Might do. One of the most difficult grounds in the world to play at when the other team is going well.

Genuinely could be almost any scoreline today. I’m hoping Rangers do themselves justice for selfish reasons, and to ignite yet more interest in our league this year. I suppose the result is a talking point any which way it goes.

PS I hope it’s the football we’re talking about, and not the ref.
