He does now. But it seems half the team is out with training injuries at the moment. Full squad (or even close to full squad) and we win it last night.

As for the witches comment, clearly we have picked up an unusually high number of injuries. It was clearly making light of the sitaution again - dont try and twist that into something that wasn't meant anything more than a joke.
Spot on
Indeed; just his sense of humour trying to make light of things. Then again maybe a newspaper this morning will try and make out JK thinks there is black magic afoot... rolleyeslaugh

Not too despondent after last night. We played well on the whole. Phillips was solid apart from doing as he is told which ultimately let Palace get a ball past him, and he's not quick enough to catch up. Virgil clearly thought "Alisson will save this if he hits it from there" but it was a great finish. Elliott played a blinder especially in the first half, which was really good to see. The team spirit was something else once Nunez got sent off and we never looked like losing. Diaz' goal...the usual cliche - if that was Ronaldo it would be being replayed for weeks; a worldie.

We had so many players out it was silly. I just hope a few are back for next week. At least we have a week between games.

Klopp said recently that last year they had a 5 week pre season, which was perfect. This season it was 3. I wonder if they're overdoing things a bit by mistake in training while trying and get them up to speed quicker.

Just seen the full replay of the Nunez incident. He was clearly wrong and red was the right result. Let's not over blow it though - the kid is young and he will learn from this. He needs to be a bit more street smart in these situations and that will come with experience and the right advice in his ear.

He's a 23 year old adult, who has been a professional footballer for 5+ years. Stop excusing rank stupidity/petulance. Centrebacks up and down the league w ill be licking their lips right now.

One of the most cynical pieces of garbage I have seen for years, Viera has clearly told them to waste time at all costs and try and play out the clock, it's pathetic but I would expect nothing less from him. Always was a dirty player.

I hate seeing cheating and stuff, and this is such a poor effort from a team LEADING away from home, even in attack they have made zero effort to try and score, just get free kicks and throws/corners to waste time.

Nunez is a total bell end, I feel Klopp is going to have his work cut out with him
Absolute clueless nonsense

Palace made zero attempt to score (according to you) yet had as many clear cut chances as Liverpool after going ahead, Guita had almost nothing to do all game

As for it being a poor effort for a team away at Anfield, Palace came home with a point, after losing the last 10 games to Liverpool and only the 5th side to do so since fans returned

Not one person in here has excused what he did. Klopp also didn't excuse what he did. CBs can do what they like now to him but given that's the first violent conduct red card in Klopp's reign, it's unlikely he will ever do it a 2nd time.

We all ignored Luke’s post for a reason.

Palace played their tactics well, tactics that many do and will use at Anfield, and will be delighted. Vieira doing a good job there IMO.

Good to see a couple of yellows given for the time wasting, even the ref was getting bored of it.

Precisley - no one is excusing what he did - everyone's called it out. As far as I'm aware that's his first red card of his career - far short of Sergio Ramos' 27 times of petulance. So a bit of context and his age does have some bearing - there are enough good voices around him that he should learn from it.

I think they said during the game he has been sent off once - for a previous club in Spain's 2nd division. So it's far from a regular occurrence, as you say.

I always think if you're going to do it then you might as well do it properly, he barely touched him.

He'll be a marked man now with a known temper problem. Defenders will be out to wind him up something chronic so it's going to be a tough test.

Yeah but you heard Klopp last night (well maybe you did) - he said they'd use the time to make him tougher.

Salah gets niggled and kicked all the time, Mane got niggled all the time too - both as hard as nails. Mane in particular used to dish it out "under the radar". Imagine how someone the size of Nunes will be. Unplayable. They'll have him so that he won't react like that - more defenders will bounce off him and he'll be taught to take care of himself when faced with someone trying to wind him up.

The thing about us pessimists is that we’ve been right (about Utd) for a decade :-)
I'm not sure if you're a pessimist or just a realist, given the current performances!

Barely touched him?

It was his second attempt, after missing initially, and a proper butt into the face

I agree.

My initial thought was he should have gone down when shoved. But then saw the replay that had him having a first head dig at the defender.

Stupid.

Felt he was dangerous before that.

Diaz is the real deal.

I think they got rid of the wrong one out of Salah and Mane...

I know VvD's pace was never his strongest suit...but felt he should have kept sprinting for the first goal. He seemed to back off right at the wrong time. Get further in front of Zaha and I doubt there'd have been a goal.

Season's far from over. Very far. But Liverpool need to be far less wasteful. And I think Klopp needs to have a Plan B in games that aren't clicking.
They didn't "get rid" of anyone, Mane wanted to leave and he's been consistently the less productve of the 2.

Pace not being VVD's strongest suit? You have seen the footage of him keeping pace with Mbappe and Traore I assume? He made a decison to force Zaha to stay wide and removed the option to cut in and open up the angle for an easier finish. Zaha took his chance exceptionally well.

Plan B options are limited with such a large number of injuries. Jota, Firminho, Thiago would all have offered somthing different in the final third had they been available.

Personally i'd been a bit concerned about Diaz recently as he seemed to have lost a bit of confidence and wasn't driving at defenders as he had last season. His performance last night, especially after Darwin got sent of, was superb and I also thought Elliot had a cracking game.

Bit weird to bring up Ramos with 27 red cards when he is a defender who has won it all. You don’t expect your strikers to ever get red cards *unless* they happen to be last man stopping a counter in a cup.

But by that logic it would have been unlikely he'd do it once! The induction fallacy in a PH football thread biggrin

He looks a great player, but yes, he'll be targeted for wind ups after showing he can react badly

Not really sure what your first sentences are saying. He did it once; he's unlikely to do it again, given that's not how Klopp wants his players to play. If he does he's unlikely to be around more than a year or so I expect. He'll also no doubt be getting lots of sthousery in training from now on so he's used to it.

I will be very surprised if this doesn’t get looked at retrospectively and he gets more than the standard 3 game ban

Made Nunez look like an amateur to be honest, played him like a fiddle. I hope he's able to up his game, as every defender in the league will be doing this
