Made Nunez look like an amateur to be honest, played him like a fiddle. I hope he's able to up his game, as every defender in the league will be doing this

Fascinating to watch that. Klopp was already aware, given he said how they'll toughen him up.https://twitter.com/TalkCPFC/status/15594326850130...

If that's all it takes he'll be racking up the cards faster than the goals.https://twitter.com/TalkCPFC/status/15594326850130...

I guess quite a few of those niggles in Europe probably would be free kicks for Nunez. He's probably not used to it being allowed to continue, you could see him getting more and more annoyed by them before the headbutt.
I suspect so, given his reactions. Anyone would think he hasn't watched the PL before, or that anyone even told him roughhousery is accepted. Someone had their arms around Salah in the box in the 2nd half and that didn't warrant anything either (when I thought that kind of thing was being clamped down on last season). VAR saw nothing wrong either. But then, they seem to allow hair pulling now.
Andersen had several hundred abusive messages and death threats on instagram after the game last night. Some "fans" are just too pathetic for words.

I think a greater degree of "roughhousery" is being tolerated this season compared to those in the recent past and personally I'm quite happy about that; it's meant to be a contact sport and therefore contact shouldn't equate to a foul (which seemed to be almost where we'd been heading, especially when awarding things like penalties).
I'm for it too. And that's what they said they were going to do last season. But equally, stuff like 2 arms around a forward's chest from behind and either holding them down or hauling them down they did say last season they were clamping down on. It's a contact sport, not wrestling.Far too much being made of this.
Highly emotionally charged home debut and played like a fiddle by a bigger/stronger/more experienced defender. Stupid reaction but good to get it out of the way early and now everyone can use it as a learning experience.
He's a south american centre forward playing in the prem after all. They're generally a pretty volatile lot, comes with the territory.
They'll over-correct for a while as with everything. Hopefully get to a decent balance as the season progresses.

Yep… utter cretins. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62563500
Awaits fake indignation from thread of envy as if this was behaviour isolated to us or something the club can control….

Yes, don't disagree with that. It's when you have to have replay after replay to determine whether or not there was actually any contact at all that it annoys me; if a touch was that slight it shouldn't be enough to make a fit professional footballer go down like a sack of potatoes, in that scenario I'd prefer to see them given a yellow card for simulation!
Yeah I would agree (again). Sometimes you can only see a trip or kick from 1 angle but if it's clear contact - fine. But if the touch is so slight as to barely be there, it really shouldn't be a foul. Flip Martian said:

Perhaps they're still perfecting their "hairpulling is within the laws of the game" argument.Awaits fake indignation from thread of envy as if this was behaviour isolated to us or something the club can control….

100% trolling, 100% of the time… which is why it’s best to just ignore them… you’re never going to have a sensible or balanced discussion with them when everything they post is poisoned with envy and bitterness.
Yup!I was flying home last night so I've only just got to see the highlights from the game. I won't comment on the red card as enough has already been said about that.
From the looks of things we played quite well? Created quite a few good chances, Diaz' goal was quite "Salah-esque", but we also seem to be more susceptible to being hit on the counter at the moment, something that's carried on from last season, I'm not sure why that is.

The premise of ‘banter’ is there’s some humour underlying it… unfortunately, though many think they are comedians, very few posters (across all team threads) are actually funny.
The whole footy section would be better if the mods just banned anyone who posted any form of WUM or trolling bks in another teams thread. It’s rarely, if ever, funny, and just escalates to thread ruining.
CIe can be an exception… his posts are mostly funny
