If I was club chairman, I wouldn't want this guy at my club. I wouldn't want him working in my shop, in my school or in my home. Plenty of other jobs out there though.
But because of the scandal, he will now be much cheaper than an equivalent talent. There will be a good economic reason to sign him.The market will ensure he gets a game.
He`s served his sentence, surely he can move on now, if he`d have killed a young child he`d have been let out early, giving a new house, and given a new indetity !!! Yes, what he`s done has no excuse, but EVERYBODY makes mistakes in life, including everyone of you who`s knocking him.

Mistake ? Raping someone is not a mistake it is a conscious decision to do something you know is wrong, imagine this tosspot had raped your daughter / sister / mother , would you just put it to the side as a mistake when they struggled with it for the rest of their life ? Yea he can move on but do not expect others to just forget and yea unfortunately he has to shoulder that the same way she has to shoulder being raped

as has been said many times, in many other industries; when you make a mistake, that's it, you don't get to do that job any more.
Try the financial industry, teaching, anything customer facing, anything with children etc etc. no-one moans when they aren't allowed back to their jobs even after they have served their time.
he should go and get a job in a different industry imo.
This is a tough one where I feel like a hypocrite.
He has been convicted and served his punishment and needs a chance to integrate back into society, otherwise we increase the risk of 1 strike and you're out mentality which cannot be good for society.
Rape is a shocking crime and no matter what any of us believe about the rape he was convicted. What appalls me more is the behaiour of Ched and his friends in hiring a room in advance, one of them finding a girl and then an assumption that it was ok to watch/film/join in. The girl was clearly intoxicated and they took advantage of this. This behaviour with a girlfriend (who seems to be sticking by him) and as a role model is just not right.
Has he changed his ways? I don't know, but I would not want him doing the community work or being around impressionable kids which is a part of being a pro footballer at my club.
Would I want him at my club? No way.

it's also not like you have a right to be a professional footballer.

If he was previously a delivery driver, you wouldn't be railing against the prospect of him returning to his van.as has been said many times, in many other industries; when you make a mistake, that's it, you don't get to do that job any more.

if delivering to male only warehouses then maybe not, but that's not my call.
If I even get a bad credit rating I don't get to return to my job... ever. Or in any other similar company doing a similar role. Let alone getting a conviction for anything. It doesn't matter how good I am at my job, how much I get paid or make for my company.
I would be out looking for another job in another industry that wasn't interested in whatever I had done.

He's free, talented, and (now) cheap. He'll be snapped-up somewhere. If it's your club you have the right to boycott them, but that's why he's cheap. He'll still be worth signing.

and yes I agree, I think we are about to find that out about the football industry.
If it was my club I would boycott them, but I am no die-hard fan. And it is all about profit.
This may blow over, but I expect to see a few chants made up about this, maybe a little revenue decrease initially.

I meant stopping in a petrol station as a delivery driver. I thought you were being a bit silly about restricting his deliveries to male-only warehouses. and yes I agree, I think we are about to find that out about the football industry.

I don't think it'll quite blow-over - it'll dog his whole future career. But it won't end it. No chance.

I know you did, and yes I was being a little silly... but not completely. Had a quick think about if I would want a rapist delivering to my warehouse if it had female staff members. probably not.I don't think it'll quite blow-over - it'll dog his whole future career. But it won't end it. No chance.
Plenty of other footballers and sportspeople have managed to carry on; though most seem to able to settle out of court so this may have a bearing on it.

I think the pertinent point in the Evans case is that the girl DID NOT say he raped her, the whole case revolved around her going back to the hotel for her lost items, police getting involved and charging him themselves. Not saying he didn't do it, but he has served his punishment by being in prison and losing part of his life in the process. I don't see the point in then stopping him earning money. This certainly vilification of a man, more because he's a footballer.
I always feel like i'm defending the guy, that's not the case, but I simply don't get this one.

as has been said numerous times. no-one is stopping him going back to work. the question is should someone with this conviction be allowed to work as a footballer. Not saying he didn't do it, but he has served his punishment by being in prison and losing part of his life in the process.
