It's his punishment for not going to Bayern Munich!

courts a bit of unwanted publicity - whenever has that ever affected our chances.... rolleyes

He's stated his reasons but I don't but it. sorry. if my dad was killed by a shark, would I get a shark tattoo no I fking wouldn't. or if he was killed by being stabbed would I get a knife tattoo...

like i say he has his personal reasons

The Sterling one is a bit odd, you have to remember lots of footballers are not intelligent people so can imagine he just went 'dur err that gun looks cool' got it done and then had to try and work his way out of it.

Be interesting to see how the game against CR goes Thursday...that will be the real tell on what team gets put out in the first game.

I thought last Saturdays game was, by-and-large, the team we will open with except perhaps for Rose coming in for Young.

I'd have to agree.

rose is good getting forward but his first instinct is to defend whereas Young seems to be too much on the front foot as an out and out defender as the game against nigeria showed he got caught out a few times not tracking back.

he is a good utility alternative though.

Pickford seems to have got the nod....he'll need to have a blinder in the tournament cos I can see attacks getting the better of our defence!

as with any tournament though...its about peaking at the right time. we can have a bad result in the group and still do well

No way should Dier and Henderson be in the same team for any of the group games - would be the death of any possibility to be creative going forwards (although Hendo tries so hard to play hollywood balls). Rose has to come in for Young even though he hasnt played much, Young is so one dimensional which is fine if you are exceptional at it, which he isn't.

Pickford seems to be in, he has a number of clangers in him and doesn't look strong on crosses but really hope in the few games we have those are not highlighted.

I don't rate Pickford at all. Just can't see what all the fuss is about. Prefer Butland, or Pope, even Hart. Hope he proves me wrong.

Great shot stopper, a bit like Heaton, from what I have seen. Although found wanting in a number of other areas. Saying that about shot stopping, I hope no England fan watched his final game of the season against West Ham...Hart would have been strung up and castigated by the media on a grand scale if he put in that performance whereas Pickford just slipped under the radar!

So who could come in that is 'creative'?

If we had sacrificed one of the players that really shouldn't be on the plane, we could have taken Jonjo Shelvey. He can hit a long pass as good as anyone English-qualified in the Premier League yet we decided he was surplus to requirement and we'd be better off bringing the likes of Welbeck and Delph.
