It's because it's a decent club.

Regardless of all the ste spouted by certain people recently about us not being able to attract a decent manager.

Being able to attract a manager like MM at this stage is pretty incredible to be honest.

I'm right behind him.
Me too.

Looks like my call was right.

I'm absolutely chuffed at his appointment.

I think it's what's needed to steer the club in the right direction. A strong personality with passion.

We've been lacking this for a while now.

Decent appointment that - Evans obviously took my advice and got on his knees and begged MM. Or just threw him a load of cash. Still a long, hard season but haven't done any harm to your prospects of staying up with this appointment.

Reports are saying there is a substantial bonus if he keeps us up. And why not?

I think he is just what we need. A disciplinarian who will chuck the dead weights out.

I don't care if ME begged him or offered him the earth, so long as he gets the squad into order and gets us up the table.

All terms have been agreed. It's just the legal stuff now apparently.

I know the cynical will start scoffing that its cash we can't afford and that he's only here for the money, but if the mooted £1m bonus to keep us up is true, that is a small price in comparison to the potential lost revenue of going down.

I'm not expecting miracles immediately but I feel hopeful now.

Afterall, in the words of the man himself "my initials stand for mick macarthy, not merlin magician!"

I can't wait. A passionate, disciplinarian manager at last.

Passion is something we haven't had at PR for a number of years now.

Just hope that we start to play decent football.

Agree. We've always tried to play 'nice' football and walk it into the net.

I don't care if we play rugby, route 1 or nasty. We just need the points.

I've just booked three tickets to the Burnley game, will be my first match this season, but I feel I have to make the effort now.

Up until now, i've been able to make excuses, but it's a new era, not expecting fireworks, but we need to get behind the new man.

Another former Sunderland manager! I liked Mick, thought it was odd sacking him when we did, he had no money to invest in the squad do going down on a record low (Derby now hold that record) wasn't a huge surprise.

He also got us up to the premier league on a shoestring and managed to break the record high points (since beaten by Reading IIRC) and he managed to get Wolves up and keep them up for a few season - they also sacked him at an odd time IMO

I think he'll do well, he'll not take any crap and usually signs some decent players who put the work in. He'll not take any st from the likes of Chopra

Norwich fan here. I must say I'm disappointed that MM has been given the job. He is probably the right man to keep you lot up, get some stability and challenge for the play offs in a couple years time.

I'd put him in a similar bracket to Warnock (nowhere near as much of a cock though) as in not really cut out for the Premier League but damn good at getting sides at least challenging for promotion.

I was hoping you'd appoint Shearer or some other 'big name' with no real experience. Shame.

Thanks. I think.

To be honest I feel excited about this. I was hopeful with Keane and jewellio. But this is different.

He was my choice from a while back and I think he's the right man, at last.

See you for the derby next season!

Is it technically possible for a team to drop 2 divisions in one season? wink

No, but they'll either go down or we'll get promoted.

Just listened to the press conference.

I feel really excited.

I'm going to Birmingham on Saturday to get behind the lads. I don't expect any kind of result or miraculous performance, but I think he deserves our support.
