The Official Manchester United Thread [Vol 6]
Discussion
Difficult one for Jose yesterday. He's often said this season how unlucky we have been getting, justifiably at times - so when we get something in our favour on such an occasion it's hard for him then to start running round like a loon, especially when we played so poorly.
He knows we got out of jail yesterday, due to both Ibra and lady luck, and did his best to look 'sorry' about it. I think there is some truth too though in his comments about the relief, emotion and stress he is under. When you consider how wrong things went at Chelsea, he must have been questioning his own ability - lord knows almost everyone else was - so to have this vindication of a trophy in his first season, the first time ever for a Manchester United manager, then I can't blame him for letting it get to him.

JM should just count himself very lucky to have a striker like Ibra on his side, the number of games he saved this season is incredible. He knows we got out of jail yesterday, due to both Ibra and lady luck, and did his best to look 'sorry' about it. And concerning the rest, whoever the manager, Uniteds squad currently just doesn`t have the overall quality of those of Barcelona, Real, Bayern, Chelsea, PSG etc. And that´s probably where the extra pressure comes from, he knows he doesn´t have the best squad but the expectations are high nevertheless.

As should any side that has a goalscorer in their side? Luck? Bulls

It's not luck.

It's not luck.
I mean, Chelsea are so lucky to have Costa, City Aguero, Spurs Kane and so on.

t....teams buy goalscorers cos that's what they do.
It's not luck.
I think the luck comes from the fact that he was a free agent and could have gone anywhere and that he could still play to the level that he had previously and that he would adapt to a "proper" league like the premiership. As far as I can see, the guy owns that team and they love him.Luck? Bulls

Exactly, they make the difference not a distressed, whining manager....
It must have cut deeply when Mourinho won that trophy yesterday mustn't it? It's the EFL cup nothing more, but still...so many have said on this thread he was past it, there's a new world order and yet, there he is lifting that cup yesterday. anniesdad said:

But it's Mourinho as usual who's always complaining about how unlucky he is, blaming everyone, etc. while forgetting and ignoring the other side of the medal.
Reality is Ibra and Micky have been outstanding buys, without them things looked different now.

Why do people always say stuff like this?Did anyone think he was signing them just to make up numbers? - every player you sign is being signed because you believe they're going to be part of the jigsaw that wins stuff.

I expected Depay doing a lot better than he did for example, I didn't expect DiMaria to leave that early, Pogba is he doing as expected or should we judge him at the end of next season ? Rooney is he still delevering ? Mata ? etc.

You're also missing the bits where Maureen showed his appreciation for the goal Blackburn scored against us, the way he pats opposition players on the back etc etc. You see what you want to see.

Did you think United were lucky yesterday? I'm not sure what he should have to blame himself for yesterday? I'm just struggling to see your point here...But it's Mourinho as usual who's always complaining about how unlucky he is, blaming everyone, etc. while forgetting and ignoring the other side of the medal.

Pretty much everyone I know into football knew that Miky was the good buy and for anyone to question Ibra, we'll that's just dumb isn't it. Love him or hate him he was always going to do the business.I expected Depay doing a lot better than he did for example, I didn't expect DiMaria to leave that early, Pogba is he doing as expected or should we judge him at the end of next season ? None of it is luck, you make your own.

That's why you're an armchair pundit who's finding it very hard to congratulate Maureen on turning it around in a matter of months. An admitting you were wrong. I expected Depay doing a lot better than he did for example, I didn't expect DiMaria to leave that early, Pogba is he doing as expected or should we judge him at the end of next season ? Rooney has always been overrated in my view.
Mata, what about him? Far better under Maureen than LVG.
