Not sure about that. I'm 55 and I'm not convinced I'd be a massive downgrade
So...in that case who would you have in at RB from our current squad? We certainly need someone of Tsimikas' standard but that would be a new signing. Not sure there's anyone there at the moment.

The point still stands, Klopp would rather bring Elliott, Stefan and Curtis as completely inexperienced players into midfield before experimenting with Trent there, so what does that tell you?
That, unlike Robbo, we don’t have a good enough alternative at RBFlip Martian said:

Ramsay was supposed to be that option but he seems persistently injured or not match fit.
Must admit I had forgotten him. But he was signed as "1 for the future" but came with an injury they decided would be better treated now, and not left in case it got worse later. The season is basically finished anyway with top 4 looking less and less likely if Brighton jump above us with their game in hand. We're relying on numerous other sides dropping a bk and our form improving considerably. 5 points from the next 3 games would be a decent result, but I can see us only getting a draw against Chelsea and losing against Arsenal and City.

Another 19 year old though. I'd give Gomez a run of games as we've signed him on a 5 year deal until 2027 and he's forth pick CB. Difficult to see how he could be worse defensively than Trent has been recently.

Gomez at RB this season has always seemed better than Gomez at CB. Not sure why we haven't tried to swap things out during a game by pushing Trent up and putting Gomez in behind him. But again, they see stuff in training that we don't. The season is basically finished anyway with top 4 looking less and less likely if Brighton jump above us with their game in hand. Not sure about the "sticking with what you know" thing so much, not when Klopp is paid millions a year and his staff will be on hefty salaries too. They're paid to be better than sticking to the status quo so I would expect them to be exploring all options all season.

Fantasy manager is go
Do you really feel it's fantasy manager territory to suggest Trent is ill suited to a defensive role and appears to be getting worse the older he gets? Other managers appear to agree, hence the relentless targeting of him all season and the fact he's only played 30 minutes for England in the last 12 months despite approaching what should be the peak period of his career.
He would only play more for England if Southgate played a similar system to Klopp - and asked TAA to play that same role. IMO he's not playing as a normal traditional RB for us, so there are better candidates for England who do, week in and week out. He's certainly not an international class traditional "sit back and defend" RB at this time.
