Klopp's 1st question in the PC this morning was about the Robertson thing. He's happy it's been dealt with in the right way. So he says, anyway.

I honest don't think Robertson or Klopp give a st and probably haven't since 10 mins after the incident.
Moving on is anyone excited by the realistic MF links ?
Mason Mount - no idea what's happened to him, was a very good player
Matheus Nunes - rate him, might be available at reasonable cost
Ryan Gravenberch - who?
Moisés Caicedo - don't watch him enough, apparently Brighton want £80m - WTF
Tielemans - will be available on a free

That was all in the PC this morning. Anyone wanting us to buy galacticos is probably going to be disappointed. Given our decent record in the transfer market however (he and the transfer team do seem to get most signings right, compared with most of our rivals) perhaps just have just a bit of optimism they sign the players they want in the window and they turn out to be good ones?

So expect a big signing imminently. Isn't that the Klopp M.O.? I still find it very interesting why a press briefing was made specifically about us NOT signing Jude. I mean, who does that and for what reason? All very odd unless there is more to this. What Klopp said today is completely what you'd expect him to say, given that everyone knows we are in the market for players.

The difference between us and a club like City is we can't afford to have even a £60m player like Kalvin Phillips on the bench or a £100m like Grealish under-performing for a season and a half whereas City can and regularly do. I wonder what Phillips thinks about his move now as he's dropped out of the England squad whereas when he was at Leeds he was a starter in most games under Southgate.Klopp has mostly got their recruitment right and has shown they will wait for the right player rather than panic buying. The issue is that when we don't buy, that money seems to evaporate or get spent on a luxury player like Gakpo that we didn't absolutely need like we did a Midfielder. We've been told recruitment was light for even 3 seasons to buy big. Now we can't even afford that despite all our success. 2x Champions League finals in a row and we're 'poor'?

This… which comes back to the owners, and how (un)committed they are to success as opposed to simply maxing the return on their initial stake. type-r said:

We apparently have not, though. There hasn't been 1 direct quote from anyone at the club about Bellingham when we were MEANT to be signing him, or now to say we're not. As Klopp said this morning in the "pre-Leeds" PC when asked about it, "we never speak about transfer targets". So either: I still find it very interesting why a press briefing was made specifically about us NOT signing Jude. I mean, who does that and for what reason?
1. something unofficial was leaked from the club to a pet journo, but without permission to quote anyone, or
2. a journo needing a story, thinks that us not making CL means we need a major rebuild but have no money, meaning we can't afford a "luxury" player like Bellingham, therefore...they wrote that we're no longer in the market for him, and to give it kudos made it sound like we'd announced it. When we haven't said anything at all.
That 2nd one sounds bonkers but wouldn't surprise me.

I think the Gakpo signing means we won't be seeing any big new "forward line" signings and they'll focus on where they haven't been spending (we all know where that is). Thing is, Klopp has said many times we're not competing with City/Chelsea/Utd in the same transfer market so yes of course, we can't scoop up oodles of expensive players and hope some work out. Trouble is, fans see the richer clubs that DO do that and then complain that we don't. When (Coutinho money excepted) we haven't really, in the last 10 years (although of course we've still bought some players out of the financial reach of many other clubs).Klopp has mostly got their recruitment right and has shown they will wait for the right player rather than panic buying. According to TIA, a press briefing was sent out to all Merseyside-based journalists. Who exactly sent this briefing is a mystery but clearly someone from the club (with permission). Respected journos such as Chris Bascombe and Paul Joyce all reported it at the same time.1. something unofficial was leaked from the club to a pet journo, but without permission to quote anyone, or

Another to add to the list of LFC players that have flopped after leaving. How long was his 300k+ per week contract again?.

Interesting. And then Klopp sits there in a PC and openly says "we don't talk about transfers" and even how when he answered the question he said he wasn't referring to Bellingham. Peculiar. And why would the club bother telling anyone "we're not after that player we never said we were after" anyway? Unless they really are. God knows. I'm just going to wait and see who turns up in the window I think...
