TX.
Where do you get the idea from that the income of self employed people is in the public domain?

There's much noise about footballers wages but they are nothing compared to f1 drivers who race for only 19 or 20 races a year.
Yes but there's how many F1 drivers earning that much compared to your average footballer? I'd also think there's more skills involved in F1 compared to kicking a ball around a field.

Some players don't even deserve the pay with their lack lustre performance and childish behaviour.

I'm a Norwich fan and ticket prices have become ridiculous. I pay an OK amount for my season ticket, less than £500 for Premier League football but the casual prices and away tickets often reach £50 a ticket.

Our CEO says that all ticket sales go into the transfer budget and they will not be reduced as that would make it impossible for us to compete with our PL counterparts.

Norwich do however have a wage cap. I don't know what it is obviously but I could not see us paying anyone anymore than £30k a week and that is still an obscene amount. I think more PL clubs should cap wages but if it only happens in the EPL and not in say La Liga, the big players will just move abroad.

It is a sad state of affairs as I know how difficult people find it to get to the odd game due to work commitments, nevermind then struggling with £150-200 day out for a family of 4.

It bugs me a bit talking about footballers wages. If you look at ANY top sportsman from a major sport they earn the same. Federer, Djokavic, Murry, Tiger Woods, McClroy, Luke Donald etc etc they all earn massive money but work bloody hard and sacrifice a hell of a lot to be where they are. It's only because it's in the press etc how much a footballer earns a week it's seen as rediculous. They are the best at their given sport so why shouldn't they earn the money for it?!

I think its wishful thinking....

You've highlighted two select cases, Liverpool are in desperate need to reduce their wages as they have a top four wage bill when they haven’t been a top 4 side for years, their wage bill was/is unsustainable without CL football.

With regard to wesley sneijder there is no way when he moves he'll be taking a pay cut, in fact i'd guess he'll end up getting a pay rise probably in the name of a signing on bonus.

Wages are still crazy you only have to look at the likes of man city, chelsea and QPR having to pay astronomical wages just to get players to play for them. Players that without their russian / arab they wouldn’t have a chance of being able to afford.

Even the likes of arsenal although they don’t pay the top top wages seem to have this bizarre system where everybody starts at about £40k p/w.

Messi turned down a reported £450,000 a week AFTER TAX after a Russian club (prob Anzhi) offered up his £205m release clause.

Insane.

But well done to Messi for staying loyal to Barca rather than accepting the disgusting wage Anzhi are offering like so many other footbalelrs have done.

Not sure how that would help smaller clubs who survive on weekly ticket sales, doubt it would concern the bank accounts at City/Chelski
Yeah know what you mean regarding the smaller clubs! As for others I think it would have a positive affect if the fans were adamant they were not going to carry on paying these stupid prices .

Next year the premiership is seeing a 70% rise in income from television money, surely this need to be passed onto fans as well
Why do you think football is any different than any other business ?

If you ran a company which had two revenue streams. Let's say you sold a fixed allocation of TVs - so that is one stream (buying a TV is akin to a fan buying a ticket). Then you had another stream for a license agreement with a 3rd party (akin to the TV rights), why would you reduce the cost of the TVs, when the second revenue stream increased, if the TVs are already selling well and you have no competition ? You would only reduce the cost if you were struggling to sell them. It's all very well Mr X moaning about the price of the TV butm as there is a limited allocation, if he does not want it then there is a queue waiting to take his place.

Football clubs don't have any competition other than price (a Chelsea fan is not going to buy his ticket from Fulham because the Chelsea ones are too expensive). If I was the CEO of a football club the fans would be just like customers in any other business.

I also disagree. Everyone has had the chance to play football at some point in their life but an extremely small percentage have had the opportunity to drive a racing car.

Michael Schumacher may well be the best driver of all time but given that he probably represents 0.01% of all the people given the chance I would suggest that there are many, many drivers who are more talented than him but just don't know it. It also demonstrates the fact that, given the opportunity, most people could drive an F1 car around the track but only a very small percentage are any good at football.

Because it is affecting football at all professional/semi professional levels.

Well good on Messi for opting to stay with Barca for a slightly less 'disgusting amount' still making him the highest paid player and not having to live in the sthole that is Anzhi. What a hero.

None of them live in Anzhi, it's too dangerous. They train in Moscow and travel into Anzhi for home matches and then run away again.

What. A. Club.

How much have football prices actually gone up in the last 15 years or so? £62 at Arsenal is mental, what about other Premier League clubs? I guess its not the same outside the top 4?
£50 is about the norm for an away ticket in the Premier League these days. Some clubs seem to be putting them up by about £8 a season.

Norwich for example was £51 this season.

Please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of my club for that.

Especially as £51 is a hurrendous amount to pay to watch your team lose away...

F1 drivers work a lot harder than a footballer. 90 mins kicking a ball around compared to all the practice, testing, racing, training, media, sponsorship comitments etc... some of these footballers are injured for weeks on end or sat on the bench. Getting paid £50k a week to not play football is bonkers.

Good job footballers don't have to train in between playing matches.

Wait what? footballers don't practice!!! Amazingly talented then much more so than F1 drivers who have to bother with all that practice malarkey. footballers also have sponsorship commitments, media commitments (all the big clubs have their own channels full of crap. Oh and do F1 drivers not get paid if they are injured?
