...I tip Fulham to rip into the Spuds re energised , heads high and take all 3 points !
I would like to see it but can't somehow. What is the thoughts of the cottager faithful on the new guy? The above pasted from Wiki.
Fulham used to have a miserly defense , admitidly they never scored too many either but Craven Cottage under successive managers/coaches was a difficult place for many teams to score. This season not only were they not scoring but also the defense was leaking goals .
On the face of it Meulensteen is a proven coach of merit with experience , his most obvious task is to reassemble a defensive unit . I'm guessing morale is low and maybe friction in the dressing room , is he capable of manufacturing these requirements ?
We shall see .

A mere blip with the new boss trying out various players to fathom depth and saving the A team for an assault on the FA cup, which of course Fulham have never won.
I'm also (bizarrely) still quite positive about the season. Was away so not even watched highlights of the 6-0 thrashing. Curbs & Ray Wilkins both added to the staff does smack a little of panic however!Just take a look at games won drawn and lost ...one draw and 13 loses in 20 . The worst defence in the league. Can this be down to the absence of Hangeland alone ?
Anyway, a very welcome 3 points but still the spectre of relegation looms, can we survive, will the beaten finalists of a European Cup competition stay with the elite for another term ? Will the new owner entice The Matta from our neighbours ?
Will our GK last the season without further injury , has Butch the kudos to inspire ? Can Sendoros go ninety minutes without making an ass of himself .?
Above all ...can Fulham Football club stay up ?

I think we can but improvement is needed now. A few times this season we've been appalling, utterly miserable.
Not seen or heard much from yesterday but it sounds like it was as much down to West Ham going down to 10 as anything else.
I hope we stay up, if Fulham go down then it could be a fair while before they come back...

I'd completely disagree. Although this gives pundits and journalists something to say & write about, Fulham were the much better side. Even the early goal was against the run of play. Big Sam's full interview on the beeb is a joke, basically said we fluked the win - we had dozens of attempts. Could have been a much bigger scoreline - and other days we'd get punished for not putting away teams when the chance was there. I'm in the Philippines and unfortunately this season no live matches and I've not seen any highlights . Can someone who's seen FFC play give me some sort of indication what's going on . To lose 1-4 against Sunderland seems on the face of it a disaster , Johnson's a good player granted but what kind of freedom was he allowed to score 3 times ?
Does the loss of Hangerland really mean one out all out ? Are we that bad we depend on one defensive player to make that much difference ?
Anyone ?

Its like a bunch of monkeys rounding around throwing st at each other and the goal in the hope that some sticks on the target.
Its fking horrible watching them at the moment.
Getting to the edge of the box and then instead of crossing the ball in and someone might get a shot on target or in fact just a shot would be nice... no these fking monkeys pass it back round from side to side and then to the defence and lose all the ground on any breakaway, then they lose the ball and he opposition has a go and sometimes gets a goal.
I have seen them play only a few good games this season and against AV I thought they had finally stopped doing the above crap, but from the reports of my mates going they seem to do ok, then something in them gives up and they leak goals... hell they even got an own goal just to help the oppostion out this year as they had only scored one.
The first season we decide to get 2 season tickets and we are wondering where the same team that played last season have gone... its pitiful that they just dont seem to want to win at the moment or even hold their own for a whole game.

Is the issue a manager one or are the players not performing/fit/mentally right?
Every season there are 1-2 clubs who struggle and in my opinion, the players are looking for someone to blame. You have a good squad of players and game changers in your team, but the performances look lacklustre. (I´m a Saints fan, so have not seen them as much as you guys)

Southampton are a good example, robust young manager , doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve and seems to me let's the team talk for him with some positive work on the field. I'm a long term FFC supporter going back to the 1950's , always the poor relation in terms of capital city teams but nevertheless I'm stuck with them .
Jol bought Ruiz to London for an unbelievable cost in excess of 10 million £ , I'd use the term lightweight as a fair description and now he's on his bike. The GK , another Jol acquisition now suffering a second injury keeping him from playing. I know injuries are a fact of life but for a small time outfit like FFC it's the difference between ( relative ) success and failure, success being survival and making up.the numbers in the Premier league . A sad but true fact .

Crikey that makes you in your mid-60s. You must have seen Johnny Haynes, Jimmy Hill, George Cohen, Bedford Jezzard, Graham Leggat etc. My Dad and Uncles were all Fulham supporters and my brother still is but I defected to the Hammers. That said I've been to the Cottage more times than I can remember. Used to like it when you could see the river behind the stand, good old days... I think the points are key in terms of who you sign. Investing 10million is massive and it has to pay off or you are really in trouble. If you´re banking on your 3 big summer signings making an impression and they don´t, then clubs like Fulham, Southampton, Palace, Reading etc will yoyo between the leagues.
My personal opinion is that the hierarchy of the club is even more important now with a manager being 1 piece, but the chairman needs to play a key role in spending wisely and managing to a budget.
Hope that you start to play better soon and pick up some points

... his good old mum gave him a ten Bob note , I failed and got to see Fulham , double whammy !
Indeed, "long suffering" is, I think, the usual preface to the phrase Fulham supporter. My aunt, who used to live in Crabtree Avenue was Tommy Trinder's secretary while he was at the club. RichB said:

I suppose the last thing we needed was another replay, but good to see some different players get a game. Tough to play Sunday then Tuesday. Utd looked well up for the game and if they can play like that week in week out then surely they shouldn't be in trouble in league 1.
Knocked back on a few transfer targets, hopefully sign a few before the end of the window. I don't think we'll go down, although not sure where that optimism comes from!
