Decent enough game for a pre season. Miles better than the previous ones. Goals conceded were a bit naff but rather now than in season.
Agreed, wouldn't read too much into the game being honest. Seeing reports of them training twice the day before, and then again the morning of the game. Would allow a little lack of sharpness.epom said:

Exactly - although it was interesting what Elliot said after the game - "everyone was a bit low in the dressing room after". That "hate losing" mentality is a good start.type-r said:
Really pleasing to see Gomez and VvD making their first steps back, after their long journey. Must have felt so good.
VVD didn't look too happy when he was plonked on his backside for the 4th goal ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)
They are further into their pre season than us and a lot further than Gomez and VVD.
VAR going in the right direction this season. Still not a fan of it but if AI can be implemented by 2022-23 and decision time reduced down to 4 seconds, then I may finally be a reluctant convert. Whilst you can never stand in the way of progress, this whole digitalisation of football still feels wrong to me.

Most of the time, my issue with VAR was actually more of a problem with the rules themselves, and then secondly the amount of time the officials took. The technology I don't have much of a problem with.
Having said that, I do think there is an inherent flaw at some stadiums where they don't have enough cameras down the sides to accurately work out offsides.

I don't really disagree with this but it does rather sounds like they're bringing things back into the realm of "human interpretation". But those minute lines for offside were ridiculous, so I'm glad they've gone... I wonder how many more goals we would have had last season.https://www.thisisanfield.com/2021/08/premier-leag...

Definitely a step forward (as opposed to a toenail).Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
