Agreed. He's in the last year of his contract - seems unlikely anyone is going to pay very much for him.
In other news, Thiago came back from his break wth a slight injury so won't be in the matches against Bologna on Thursday.
I assumed he was just fetching the coffee for Klopp or similar, rather than proper training? In other news, Thiago came back from his break wth a slight injury so won't be in the matches against Bologna on Thursday.

You've seen him play right?
I'd rather pluck a keeper from the Ryman league than have him in goal.
In all seriousness, he has been a decent keeper or we wouldn't have signed him. He was doing ok in Turkey until they stopped paying him after covid happened. Not when he was back in Germany though. It's far too glib to say "he's st". When players go backwards, there's usually a reason.I'd rather pluck a keeper from the Ryman league than have him in goal.

Some good business so far (mostly out) and having a fully fit squad (cliche alert) will be like new signings, but would be nice to spend something significant (preferably on a striker option). No news of Origi leaving? How long left on his contract I wonder?
A quick google suggests he signed a contract extension in 2019 that takes him to June 2022.Flip Martian said:

So I guess he is going to run down the final year then, should be trying to sell him (maybe we are)
I saw some journo on Twitter I think who said he WAS one of the ones that had been made available. Again, he can be a pretty decent striker so it seems odd if nobody has been in for him... Maybe that's it - he's just sat running down his contract. Then again, Shaq is available, has said he would like to go, had a great Euros...and is also still here. Not much business being done, maybe.

With Ings going to Villa, I wonder if Kloppo is having a word in Ralph's ear to say Origi is available...
If Origi is now entering the final year of his contract, he won't want to go anywhere. Probably earns 60k for keeping the bench warm and not having to run around a lot in the odd gam he does play. Next year, he'll still be able to command a decent wage on a free transfer. Really no incentive for him to leave now.type-r said:

You're making assumptions about Origi's character there - which may or may not be correct, of course. Can't imagine someone like Klopp would have someone like that taking an active part in the first team squad though, if that was the case.ChocolateFrog said:
Looks like we played two 1hr games against Bologna this afternoon.
Won them both, squad seemed to be evenly split across both games.
Not really much more than training games to try out tactics they've been working on really. Salah missed a couple in the first game but Jota and Mane put goals away. Won them both, squad seemed to be evenly split across both games.
2nd game Shaq produced a great ball over the top into the box for Minamino to run onto and volley in. And Origi hit the post from the penalty spot. But Bologna were very average in both games. Our defenders had little to do.
Virgil and Gomez both played over 40 minutes each so they're starting to step up their fitness. Wouldn't be surprised if Matip and Konate start in the Prem for a game or 3, they're clearly being very very careful with both of them.
