There was another attacker that you were strongly linked to on Twitter earlier. Can't remember his name but it was something like Solomon Roldon... off to have a Google.
He plays for Venezuela I think...

I can see Mario, Allen and others being moved on!
Am I the only one that thinks we should keep Mario and he did do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puWPAdAG-3k

Rondon.

No, I didn't have a clue either.

But then there are the 100's of clips of him strolling about looking bored and winding everyone up.

Sky sources saying Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Firmino from Hoffenheim.

Looks to be another good signing in my opinion. If they get Bacca also, well...

From what I've seen of Firmino when we were linked to him its a decent signing.

From what I've seen of Firmino is that he's more of a Suarez type player - the Suarez that we bought, not sold. A very good forward, can play any of the front three and as striker. Wouldn't compete with PC - I think we'd look to play him as striker, or as partner to Sturridge, occasionally as one of the three behind. Very much as we did with Suarez.
That's EXACTLY what I wanted to say about him... but likening anyone to Luis is always going to be risky given how good he was.
Sounds even better!

Not sure Allen will go to be honest. We need someone to hold things together too, and for all his faults Allen is one of the few players in the team who tends to keep a hold of the ball and link players with an easy pass. Some may critise this, but it is needed; if we have too many going for the exciting but risky passes we will lose the ball too much and get punished with the defense being what it is.

I wonder who is in charge of transfers now - is someone deciding for Rodgers this time, or is he now in charge deciding the players he wants for the team he will play his way rather than the committee?

I'm not sure where Allen gets in to the team, regardless of what I think of him. Henderson, Milner and Can will be ahead of him I think. One of Allen and Lucas will be sold. I'd prefer it to be Joe Allen for no other reason than that Lucas provides much better defensive cover and I think him an Can can compete for this position. Joe Allen is just too much of a limited footballer. In a 3 man midfielder every player needs to be able to tackle. I've seen Coutinho tackle and compete for the ball in a way I've yet to see Allen do.

I think the style of football that Mr Rodgers originally thought he could play at a team like Liverpool, and hence the signing of Joe Allen, will be the death of him at Liverpool if he tries it next season rather than the death by football he spoke of when he arrived.

As for who is in charge of transfers. I think the more important observation is the clear shift from the premier league proven nonsense that was first used and then the more recent buying potential stuff of recent times. Milner, Clyne, Firmino, Bacca and to a lesser extent Ings are all 'proven' and much more than just potential. Hopefully, Mr Rodgers knows how to play professionals like these. I'd hate to see Firmino as a wing back.

We're essentially swapping Sterling for.......... Firmino, Ings, Bodgan, Gomez, and Milner. And that's not even hitting the £50m mark yet. And that's not including our set-aside transfer budget for the summer.

We're actually making competent signings. This summer could be our best in a while yet.

So we've maybe overpaid by 5 million to wrap the deal up before the big teams get interested. Exactly the sort of thing we should be doing.

20 odd million of the Sterling money left.

Ings was Aspas money.

Milner's signing on fee probably ofset with Gerrard's wages saved over a season.

Clyne if signed will be hugely offset by the Johnson wage saving and I think Enrique will be sold also.

Coates is replaced by the lad from Charlton.

On top of this we have at least the Borini and Lambert sale to bring something in.

Some more spending ahead I think. A striker please. We've not spent much money at all this summer if we get 60 million plus on sales. Someone who can score 20 goals a season and step up when Sturridge is injured.

Looking pretty good isn't it?

Getting the deal done on Firmino was important IMO, a sign of real intent instead of dithering and missing out.

Yes. Definetly of a much higher level than many of last year's potential or overpaid premier league proven signings.

I'll be much much happier once we've got a proven striker in. This lad isn't a striker, just have a look at his goals and conversion rate.

Looking forward to seeing how Firmino and Coutinho play together.

Hmm a jigsaw with several pieces the same.

Firmino, who scored the winner for Brazil against Venezuela on Sunday, has been in the Bundesliga since 2011, scoring 35 goals in 140 appearances for Hoffenheim, playing a traditional number 10 style role.

You could change Firmino for Coutinho in the paragraph - they appear very similar.

I hope we sell either little Joe or Lala as both are not needed now, in fact I doubt Joe will get a game - maybe the cups?
