Great win tonight.
Think the team played quite well together. Caroll did well too considering he was up there on his own. He won the majority of the balls that were threw upto him.
Don't think Downin had a good game. Was glad when Enrique came on as he's more of a winger than Downin in my eyes. Shame that we were defending deep when he came on.
You were glad when Enrique came on even though he was rubbish when he did? I agree that we had to chop Downing though, he was playing as if there was something on his mind...

Concentrating on positives, he controlled that shot superbly.

I posted them on Friday 6th Jan on the old thread. Can't quote as the the thread is dead but you can go back and follow the link from there.

Can't you login to lfc.tv as a season ticket holder and enjoy the benefits of being an e-season member - watch all the vids through lfc tv?

Thought you needed an e-season ticket aswell. Good point though, I'll check.

Thanks.

Checking into volume 3!

I thought first half we were excellent, though think had we pushed them we could have got another.

2nd half was so dull just inviting them onto us, cannot help but think we could have nabbed another, just hope it does not cost us.

In terms of players, Spearing was good until he did his hammy, impressed with Agger this evening once again, great to see him having an injury free run- shows the quality player he is.

Andy Carroll, unlucky with his first chance and had a good header.....BUT he is a donkey, he is a professional footballer and he seems incapable of controlling the football, it does not matter if there is no-one within 40yards of you, he should be able to control the football. The amount of times we were running forward and it was crying out for someone to run in the lines in behind city and AC just cannot do it, we missed Suarez in that respect this evening

A perfect example on how to play the away leg of a two leg tie. Great first half until Spearing went off then the shape changed. Andy Carrol had to play with no ther Liverpool player within 30 yards and the job he was asked to do.Its a results based game so no complaints at all about last night.
Anyone remember Gary Birtles a very established goal machine form Forest who went on to score 12 goals in 60 games under Dave Sexton at UTD.
We are not alone in buying expensive players who dont make the grade the difference with Andy he is still young unlike Birtles who was vastly experienced.
Not sure what the constant jokes are meant to achieve really it gets boring after a while.

I can't see how anyone can really argue that if Kompany's was a red card how Johnson's tackle last night wasn't. The criticism should really be directed towards the referees rather than anywhere else.

I agree, but I think Stevie's complaint was that Mancini was being a hypocrite, calling for Rooney to be in trouble for getting kompany sent off and now he is doing th exact same thing, think Gerrard was right on that front, though regards the tackle, not Johnson's best!

That he did. Technically he's good. I don't think he'll ever be a player that runs at a man and beats them. So be it. His crossing could be better, but that also applies to most of the Liverpool team.

I was a bit incoherent last night due to red wine and forgot to say that our performance was even better when you take into consideration that we played 70mins without an out and out defensive midfielder.

i think that was mancini's point. one is a red, the other isn't even a foul. yes they are different referees, but how can 2 refs from the same FA judge was was essentially the same tackle so differently?

for me it can only be a red if contact is made. i'm sure that's the FA's guideline too.

Its not about the contact, think its to do with 'intent' is it excessively aggressive yada yada

perhaps, but the point about how the same tackle was judged stands.

I think it is such a shame that strong tackles are, effectively, being made illegal by the FA.

10 years ago and the commentators would have been saying tackles like Kompany's were well timed and challenges where players go straight through the ball, upending the player they challenged (without touching them) were good and strong.

I understand that lots of players careers can be threatened by reckless challenges but they could just as easily be caught in the Temple by an elbow and get brain damaged... Football is a contact sport, challenges like Kompany's being deemed as a red card makes me upset.

Enrique done alot for us defensively and getting the ball away from the box too. Something that Downing can't do and at that time nobody was doing.
It's not that Enrique was crap when he came on but that the team was backs against the wall so we can't expect an amazing performance from him in those circumstances
