Another 3 points, played pretty average and still won 4-1, must be doing something right.

If we can beat Preston on Wednesday, we're laughing. I still think 4 points in the next two games (PNE & Stoke at home) will be great results.

Yes, a decent effort all round, apart from Ndidi breaking down a couple of attacks for no apparent reason and tackling himself in their penalty area on another occasion.

I'm particularly impressed with our keeper. He makes Ward look like someone on the local park.

You lot seem to be loving life in the championship. Guess it's how you handle the drop of income and which players you keep...if you can get straight back up with the guts of a premier League squad then there's no real long term damage done I guess.

How's Coady getting on? Injured, but saw he was back for the cup game midweek. Tom Cannon getting many minutes?

I still think it would have completely knocked us (Everton) for 6 and due to our finances not getting straight back up would be catastrophic. Possibly even the act of relegation would have been curtains.

However, clinging on in the Premier isn't exactly going swimmingly for us either at the moment hehe

Haven't enjoyed going this much for a couple of years, doing every game atm. Offset the losses of PL revenue through selling Maddison, Barnes and freeing up wages through contracts expiring or relegation clauses, so just about survived.

Coady has never missed a game in his career through injury (one game he did miss was because he had COVID) I don't think, yet he gets injured 15 minutes into his pre season debut for us, typical. Debut against Liverpool in the cup, he played well. Should start on Wednesday against Preston as Vestegaard will be out through suspension.

Cannon is injured also, we signed him injured, so assuming we know and still wanted him, must be a long term player for us rather than filling a game for this season.

Having no VAR is fantastic as aswell, and it's nice to visit some other grounds for a season (I hope it's only one season).

Didn't realize we'd sold Cannon with an injury. IIRC he played pre season and was on the bench for the opener. And possibly beyond.

Good luck anyway, although we could do with 3 ste teams coming up to give us a chance of 17th next year beer

I'm hearing lots of pundits comment on our embarrassment of riches - squad wise - vs other the championship clubs.

I haven't heard any of them question how Brendan Rodgers managed to get it relegated though...

A good and proper game of football against Sunderland. A good performance overall, thought we could have had a couple more but at least we're keeping the winning streak going.
I think Iheanacho needs to up his game a bit.

Another win makes it 13 out of 14! Well done to the team, let's hope they keep their heads down and don't get over confident.

My thoughts on Rogers is that he had won the Scottish Championship three years with Celtic and they thought him a good bet. But they hadn't realised that the Scottish first division is equivalent to the English second division, not the Premier division. He just simply was not up to the job, and it quickly showed.

As regards an embarrassment of riches, then maybe in cash. Just look at the transfers this season! We spent £44 million and got back £100 million, nearly all of which being Harvey Barnes and Maddison. I'm hoping that Conor Coady will be a snip. Always admired his play at Wolves.

13 out of 14 is ridiculous really, a draw against Leeds on Friday would be more than enough. If we somehow manage to beat them we'll be so far ahead it'll take some ridiculous turnaround for them to catch us.

Saw some stats earlier, 17 wins from the remaining 32 games would be enough in every other Championship season to secure automatic promotion. 13 wins and 1 draw (from 32 games) would give us 79 points, which is the lowest points total to ever achieve automatic promotion. Pretty mental when you look at it like that. If we can pick up 12 points from the next 15, we're gonna be in laughing.

If you somehow manage to beat Leeds? Did you see us at Southampton a few weeks ago or at Stoke last Wednesday?! smile

I think we ought to make the play-offs but we're having too many bad days at the office to make top two and not a chance we'll catch Leicester - if we take a point off you on Friday I'll be very pleasantly surprised!

I'd take a point if it was offered right now, think your front 4 are very good, but defence suspect. I think a key battle will be our wingers against your full backs, I'd like to think we can get the advantage there. On your day you can definitely beat us though, so gotta be a decent game.

I pretty much agree with that - when we're playing well we can give any defence in the Championship a difficult time but the defensive frailties that cost us dear in the Premier League haven't gone away. And compared to you there's a massive difference in consistency - we've had some games where we've looked excellent but others where we just haven't performed and have thrown away points as a consequence. In contrast, Leicester have invariably got the job done even on days where you haven't been at your best and that's reflected in the relative points tally and table position.

One thing that might just help us tomorrow is I doubt you'll pack the defence and try to play on the counter attack - being at home I expect you to be positive and go for the win and that sort of more open game does tend to suit us better. But the flip side of that is I think it's pretty much inevitable you'll score (and probably more than one) in which case we'll need to be good going forward if we're going to get anything from the game. I am hoping for a point - or even a win if all the stars align - but realistically I'm expecting us to return empty handed...

Delighted to be proved wrong and what was pleasing was the result didn't feel like a fluke - probably our best performance in ages and in my admittedly biased opinion I thought we deserved the win. I still think you'll go up as Champions but if we can find consistency at somewhere near the level we played at tonight I think we'll have a chance of joining you back in the PL next season - still a long way to go though!

My only worry fpr Leeds is the manager. Yes, they are playing well, but my thoughts go back to his performance at Norwich. That could of course reflect on the club and not the manager, and anyway, a very good performance last night. You never know, we might find us both battling it out next year in the Premiership!

Can’t worry about being in the Prem until you’re up there, he’s a good manager for this level.

Absolutely right! Farke has a proven track record in the Championship and if he can get us promoted back to the PL at the first time of asking that will be a terrific achievement, especially given the problems he inherited and had to deal with in the summer.

Whether he's up to managing in the PL is another issue but a bridge it would be nice for us to have to cross in May next year. For what it's worth I think he would be able to cut it at that level if he had the resources to compete and I think that's where things went wrong for him at Norwich; they didn't have either the funds and/or the inclination to strengthen their squad once promoted and as a result I think Farke was on a hiding to nothing. Hopefully it will be different if he goes up with us but we've got to get there first!

Oh dear. Back to back defeats, is this the start of the expected dip? Looks very much like it.
