Finish top 4 and semi final of CL I would have taken that at start of season.

A Spursy season.

An oxymoron if I ever heard one!

Surely the ref is to blame in that Leeds villa game. Give the foul none of the madness follows.

Play to the whistle FFS you're taught that as a kid. Bamford should be banned for life.

As for spurs. No signings, no home, all the players are leaving, manager leaving, horrific injuries and yet still 3rd and CL semis.

Bit of perspective laugh

Congrats to VVD fully deserved he's been awesome.

Yes we've had to put up with some adversity this year, no signings is our own fault tbh but injuries and the stadium situation certainly haven't helped. We have done very well considering all of that of course, I'm just saying if the other teams who usually challenge for top 4 weren't also having massive issues this year, I doubt our season would have looked so great.

Our best has been in the CL imo, we started off poorly but then managed to pull off some cracking results against some VERY tough opposition. Our league form has been pretty poor though, as 48k said, most other seasons and you'd never lose 12 games and still be 3rd. Consistency has always been our weakness though which is why I still think we are a long way from challenging for the title. Knock the likes of Dortmund and City out of the CL, then lose to mid table teams, it was ever thus.

I agree the other 3 are in worse positions but I'm not sure I agree with the statement that ours is very easy to sort out. Sure we have a solid base to build from now but we need at least 2-3 additions to the squad and that doesn't include anyone who might leave during summer. Considering we seem to struggle with transfers, both getting them in and then integrating them into Poch's system, I don't think very easy is a term I would use.

We should be top 4 again or thereabouts next year but as we've seen, there is a big gap between that and actually challenging for the title. I doubt we'll be troubling Liverpool or City for at least a couple of seasons.

It wasn't a foul though. The Villa player hurt himself by the way he challenged. Just carry on as it used to be years ago. None of this namby pamby stuff for players who go down but aren't injured.

I was saying the same to my son yesterday, he was saying with our 'success' and new stadium etc. we should be able to get some decent new players this summer.

My view was that despite recent troubles, MU, Chelsea and Arsenal continue to be a bigger attraction than us, mainly because they pay more I guess and that's the crux of the matter. We have the best stadium, one of the best training grounds and facilities and three of rour seasons of consistent achievement relative to everyone else, yet I guarantee we will not get first dibs on whoever is being touted around over the summer. I'm not sure how you break that cycle, unless you start chucking multiple '000s a week at players.

I think we need four of five quality additions, we need to able to rest players week in, week out without weakening the team and we can't/won't do that at the moment.

'The table doesn't lie' is a commonly spouted false statement, there are always anomalies in the table and this season we are the team that has over-delivered - 12 losses this season and to be honest we have been fortunate to still be in Top 4. I hope we don't rest on our laurels again over the summer.

Man Utd could potentially have the opposite problem this summer - having the history and the stature to attract players but not the CL football. I've even read their fans saying it would be a blessing in disguise not to be in Europe just so that they can attract the "right sort" of footballer. I guess they are feeling sore having been burnt with Sanchez and Pogba not pulling his weight.

DL has always said that funds would be made available if Poch identified a player he wanted to bring in - which sounds a bit woolly to me. The club has banked a load of cash after a season and a half at Wembley and with the new stadium as well I think we really need to do some good business this summer to strengthen.

I think the DL statement is a bit misleading tbh. Yes the funds are probably available but with huge constraints. If Poch said he wanted a £100m player on £300k a week, I very much doubt that would be signed off.

I suspect our ceiling is probably £40m and £200k a week which means we are shopping at Tesco's rather than Waitrose.

This is always a good time to ask I guess who you'd like to see come in? I guess you have to be realistic, but all prices are sky high.... I'd like Zaha, is he worth £75 million? Sessengon, didn't set the PL alight, but I think he's probably worth a punt, but again, I dare say Fulham will demand £40 million for him, its just bonkers!

Was speaking to a Forest fan at the Spurs game on Saturday and he was saying that if you get the chance buy Jack Grealish. He said he single-handedly tore his team to shreds a while back and their recent good form coincides with his return to the Villa team.

I'm amazed he isn't in the Prem already, he's a class player. I'd imagine his allegiance to Villa will wane if they don't go up this season.

Nah Sainsbury's is too posh for us

Waitrose = City, Liverpool, Man Utd plus Barca, Real, PSG and Juve overseas.
Sainsbury's = Arsenal, West Ham, Fulham and Chelsea all spent over £100m last year. Chelsea have slipped from Waitrose to Sainsbury's since Abromovich has lost interest.
Tesco's = Usually where Spurs and most other mid table teams shop, £20-£40m per player range with total spend rarely if ever over £100m
...
...
...
...
Lidl\Aldi = Relegation fodder and where Spurs have been for last 3 transfer windows spend wise.
