So the Charity Shield is a thing now is it? OK. hehe
It is when you win it (and everything else domestically )

Lets be fair though, the Charity Shield is a competition only 2 teams qualify to play in.

Joking apart, Liverpool have been awesome this season, and if they win the CL it will be tremendous.

I can't understand why any Liverpool fan would be little City's achievements this season unless they were trolling.

Two great teams..roll on next season.

100% correct but the point remains, despite it being very Mickey Mouse, it is a piece of silverware and 1 of 4 available domestically to a PL club.
In life if you don’t blow your own trumpet very few others will smile

Totally agree, we have been great but City were slightly better, very small-minded to think otherwise. Yes the quadruple thing is slightly odd but you don’t get to take the mick till you’ve also won the treble in current times.

It’s a great achievement and fair play to City for taking all 3 domestic trophies seriously (they had the squad to do it but I still admire the application of Pep)

Anyone else entered the sweepstake for Peps cardigan. If I won it’d probably be a bit small these days!

Just been reading the Utd thread, they’re a bit upset with the thread title esp old 200 club!

I must confess not to have read the thread, but I must be missing something if the Man Utd fans can laugh at anything about City this season.

I actually posted "Have I missed something?" regarding the title thread, but it was genuine. I had completely forgotten about the Charity Shield. The one no one knows/cares about unless you're the club that wins it, biggrin (I know I did the same in the past when we won it).

If I’m totally honest, when I saw the new thread title I did think that it gave a bit of an opportunity for the “ haters” to have a bit of a go at us and take the piss.
In hindsight “back to back” champions might have been better?
I really doubt there’s a city fan who doesn’t think the community shield (or whatever they call it nowadays) is a Mickey Mouse trophy for a preseason friendly.
However there’s only 4 domestic trophy’s available for a PL team to win and we won them all.
That’s never been done before so in my book it’s worthy of note.
Last season we won 3 of them but I suspect that’s been done plenty of times so it’s not really a super big deal but this season was a bit unique.
As someone said on another thread, it’s only banter. I have little doubt Spurs of Liverpool will change their thread title to “champion of Europe” and good luck to them. The fact is they’re actually CL winners and if Spurs win it then we’ll done but in all honesty they’re not even that close to being as good as the best 2 teams in the PL as proved this season.
As hard as it is for some to say out loud, City have been outstanding and you really have to look deep to find a record we haven’t broke.
As for “City have ruined football” what rubbish. In my opinion it’s better than ever and I expect next season to be very tough with strong challenges from top teams like Liverpool, spurs and Chelsea.

Nice to see the Chairman come out swinging, treating the media nonsense for what it is, jealousy.

Do you think any of the reports of financial irregularities, sponsorship queries, financial fair play or owners families links to human rights abuses have merit?

I don't think anyone says you haven't been outstanding, apart from perhaps a few bitter Man U fans, who seem to think they are rubbish but so is everyone else. (It's kinda weird - apparently top teams in Europe are on decline (RM, Barca, Bayern etc) hence English teams being in finals, plus the PL is poor since we and you got so many points. So it seems to mean everyone is crap these days so it doesn't mean as much as when they were on top...?). Where the negative stuff comes in is if there is doping/spending too much money etc. Which then becomes personal opinions on morals. And that often depends if you are a winner or a loser as a result.

No, it's the first domestic treble without the Community Shield. Unless the stat is just for the PL era? I don't think so, but never checked it out.

It's akin to the liverpool fan asking for a runners-up trophy, only we all laughed at it because you don't have to be an outsider to see the humour and stupidity in it, whereas you all seem to be happy being tarred by that particular brush.

I’ve merely asked the question with regards to what the media are stating that is being responded to in the video.

As for my opinion on human rights abuses I don’t think these are being committed by the Glazer Family or the public who own Barca or Real.

I also don’t think that the Glazers have funnelled money to Man U by owning Chevrolet or Barca owning public also don’t own Rakuten and wouldn’t think they have funnelled money to the club that way.

I do think Man City was bought purely to raise the PR profile of the UAE and the politician owner of Man City, whom also happens to own the main sponsor, has not run the club like a business but a personal toy to further his own family and country’s aims and has shovelled far more money into it than it has, and will, generate in commercial revenue.

It’s a big club with a decent history that has been bought as a front by the owner for the purpose of merely advancing the PR of the UAE by giving it the gloss of sporting respectability.

And I’m not the only one that thinks this.

But hey, who cares when you win the Community Shield right. It is just jealousy after all.

Franco was guilty of war crimes, Real were his PR machine,
Barsa have been know as UAFALONA for years, lets not forget the 2 year FIFA transfer ban or tax scandals either.
Utd have a long history of financial shenanigans and sex scandals.

None of which makes a blind bit of difference to football supporters, people go to watch them play football. This year I have watched my team play wonderful fluid football against other teams, and tan the arse off most of them on the way to an English domestic whitewash, if you like football you will have enjoyed or at least appreciated the way we have played, you obviously dont, no doubt because your team was one of those who`s arse got tanned.

Sounds like jealousy to me ;0)
