I imagine it will go along the lines of:

  • 10 game deal with massive bonus payment for avoiding relegation.
  • Option to extend contract to 3 years if we stay up or walk if we go down.
  • Full autonomy on transfer decisions and backroom staff.
  • Bonus payments for Cup win or Euro League position finish (assuming we stay up).
  • Probably bonus payments for Derby wins.
The question is, will Ashley/Charnley agree to this? Given the situation the club is in and the potential to miss the TV deal money, I think they'll concede and have to admit that the NUFC experiment is over, normal service to resume.
I hope so for you lot, from what I've read this last few days the ste the fans have had to put up with for years is incredible.

Do us a favour and get relegated with Villa and Norwich though, so we don't have to be laugh

hehe

Mate, if it was up to me then you boys would stay up. Can't have a PL season without the legendary derby.

I'm still willing Palace to go do so I can win my £50 bet; not impossible given their latest run of form....

beer

Aye palace have looked pretty shonky - though we looked pretty ste too, giving away a lead and having to scrape a draw in the death. Same story against the saints, giving a lead away, shambolic.

I'm from Huddersfield and live in Aberdeen so at least if we get relegated I can get to the away leg easily enough, can just visit my Dads for a few days smile

But at least you have a glimmer of hope.
I support Man Utd and the future is a world of pain.
I'd swap LVG for Rafa in a heartbeat.
Good on Newcastle if you sign him. Short odds he'll save your bacon.

Lets hope we get the 3-point bounce against Sunderland that they usually get against us just after replacing their manager.

We'll need more than one bounce, mind you.

I feel bad for Steve, especially with how long this has dragged on, but he wasn't cut out to manage us.

We need a manage who can lay down the hairdryer treatment when needed and who has a proven track record that the players will respect. Hopefully that man is Benitez.

4 teams don't fit in to 3 relegation places - NUFC making the move that might just save them...

A nice man who was clearly out of his depth as a manager at this level.

The perplexing bit for me is that he's been found wanting in every big job he's had;where he's been the number 1.

So why on earth did we give him the gig in the first place?

I've said it before that the main problems with the club are not at the level of the Manager, or players, but higher up and run far deeper.

Again, my concern is that getting rid of SM will not address the real issues. In exactly the way that getting rid of AP made no difference to the downwards spiral we appear to be in.

If Rafa isn't going to be a yes man to Ashley and his tool mates and takes full control of the football played, the transfers and the back room staff, leaving Ashley and Co to just deal with the money side of things it may all change - may.

Still, I hope you go down so we don't have to silly

you will do very well to get Rafa, but he will only be on a short contract with a big stay-up bonus I suspect. To stay longer he would want full control to avoid the muppetry from above.

Christ, if Rafa got the bird at Chelsea imagine what he'd get at OT!

Can't see it being a winner - Belitez hasn't set the world on fire in recent years, and I'm not sure he's even been in a relegation dogfight.

Better late than never, I suppose.

FFS, give him a chance! hehe

Took Chelski to the Europa Cup win. Don't think RM were doing THAT badly were they? Second were they when he got the boot? The positive thing is, he's NOT Steve McClaren or John Carver ...

Anyway, he can go on a run of winning games AFTER Monday when Leics take the 3pts ...

He may be astonishingly successful. Frankly, I'm desperately hoping that he is.

But after over 40 years supporting The Toon, I'm not holding out a great deal of hope.
