Having said that I’ve never previously heard of Balbuena.
Likewise.

Spending money on younger defenders though, encouraging.

Reese Burke being sold (Hull) & sounds like Cullen off as well.

Streamed online - saw result on Twitter.

Played separate 11's either side of HT.

Few still not back in pre-season either.

Can't read too much into that game but certainly later friendlies where the team lines up in full we should do.

Sounds like Wilshere is imminent and I heard rumblings that either Yarmalenko or out the blue Anderson are also signing today.

Shame to hear Burke is being offloaded though - can see why given the competition in his position but he looked a reasonably good player.

Yes we need other signings in the midfield area, until he can prove his fitness.

Despite being stitched up yet again for our first game, the new season could prove pretty interesting.

Gutted Burke is having his medical at Hull.
He’s been impressive when he’s played, but with the emergence of Rice and the need for instant results nowadays his path with us is blocked.
Good luck to the lad.

Yes me too - although I think he just didnt quite look good enough, he would still have been a useful squad player if we get a few injuries or want to rest players for cup games.

I read some positive things about the Paraguayan chap we are meant to be after though...

Well, reputedly he appeared 38 times for the Arse last term in all comps.

That's an entire PL campaign.

Proof enough I reckon.

JW is undoubtedly a class act, a level above anyone in our current midfield bar Lanzini IMO.

An excellent piece of business.

News on Claret and Blue this morning that Kouyate, Antonio and Obiang are going to be sold to fund players coming in.

I can totally understand Kouyate, Antonio in two minds as on his day is such a good alternative on the wing - Obiang though was player really well for us before the injury...

When I think of Antonio I’m reminded of his naive error at the end of the match at Selhurst Park last season. Still, as you say on his day . . .

You can actually telegraph Antonio's transition into an arrogant, big-time Charlie, from the happy-go-lucky lad he was when he started. I won't miss him if he goes.

Yes I agree he has lost that 'so happy to just be here' attitude which made him such a player, came through grass roots, showed it can be done. Annoyingly he will move to another prem club and probably do really well.

I think you're brave taking a chance on Wilshere, but it could turn into one of teh best ever signings or a job for life for the Physio team.
Not sure which way it will go, but if he stays injury free, he can be a heck of a player. Hope he does not go all "Darren Anderton" on you

hehe

I'll wait and see how it pans out, but the pay per game deal does make me feel bit more relaxed about it.
