I'm not overly bothered whom Liverpool decide to start with, our movement on & off the ball against QPR was like the good old days at Spurs & i think we will present the fragile Liverpool defence with far too many problems .

This weeks spurs show said that Welbeck was on just over £100k a week at united & that basically ruled out any possibility of him coming to us on loan or on a permanent deal.
Hard to fathom out some of the wages these players earn these days . The likes of poor old Greaves & Charlton, just born 50 years too soon.
I never Realised that that Falcao chap has had 3 knee operations .

These loan moves are all about FFP and which country's tax system the wages get paid from, the selling club extends the players contract by a year which has an affect on amortisation of value to their benefit whilst the purchasing club gets to pay a loanee who effectively offset the comings and goings in FFP by 12 months.
Don't think contracts get extended. Torres has been loaned out for the final two years of his contract, Cleverly for the final year of his.The selling club does however (usually) move all or part of wage bill for the year and may get a loan fee which offsets the amortisation (either in whole or in part).
Depends on the negotiation with the player and agent, smart clubs push for it, agents like it because they operate on a percentage and many other clauses that we will never be party to. The assertion that loans are to try out a players fitness or suitability to a squad are at best playful inventiveness but more likely a full on lack of understanding of the world of business.
LVG is feeling the pressure and taking it out on Spurs for no reason.

"“No, I don’t regret taking this job,” he told reporters. “Yes, it is a massive job I have taken on at Manchester United. I realise that. And the situation is not worse than I thought - I knew what I would find on my plate.
“I could have opted for an easier job. If I had gone to Tottenham, the job would not have been as enormous as here at United.
“I could have easily gone to Spurs. But I chose the biggest challenge of all the jobs in football. And I really wanted to join the number one club in the country, not Tottenham.
“Financially, Tottenham was kind of as attractive as Man United. But, in my eyes, Man United is still the number one club in England, Tottenham really is not.”
Financially as appealing as Tottenham? You've been on the breakfast liqueur me thinks. I don't know why he's digging at us though. Silly Ostrich.“I could have opted for an easier job. If I had gone to Tottenham, the job would not have been as enormous as here at United.

Oof, that cuts deep. LVG said:

In terms of 'financially as appealing' one presumes he's referring to the brown envelopes Levy was waving under his nose in order to try and tempt him to North London, rather than 150m war chests.
It's the "Tottenham really is not" bit that gets me. It might just be a consequence of speaking a second language rather than a genuine swipe.
Also, 'easier job' - I don't know. Less pressure? Yes. But we don't have half a billion to throw at the best players in the world and another half a billion in wages. Plus we have very little belief in ourselves.

Walker had surgery today...no clue how long he's out for.
What's he done?Means we are left with Naughton as RB until Jan although Dier can fill in if needs be.

Could you imagine LVG asking Levy if he could buy a player for £60M :lol:LVG said:

& could you imagine us playing his silly three at the back with Naughton, Rose & Kaboul ?
I'm not so sure his 1 3 7 formation will work in the premier league tbh.
Still.. who cares
