At the end of the day mine is also just an opinion as is yours so if you can make yours surely I can mine? You think mine are wrong and I think 'some' of yours are but that's what makes a forum isn't it?
Careful, that sounds like healthy debate, which is never "silly".Whilst I like your enthusiasm, you just need to take it less personally Sye

It is, though what stands out for me is that given the money at stake and the margins football should be one of the leaders in data analytics and it just isn't. I reckon there's a decade of dominance available to the first club that truly gets rid of football culture and runs the club along properly commercial evidence-driven lines.https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/transf...

A lot of what's described is just a description of why the usual stats are crap and that there are better stats when you think about things a bit more. Which we basically know; we know Gini and Henderson have better pass completion than TAA, but that that's fine.
If it were me I'd be looking to do some sort of deal with Google to develop a proper decision/outcome model, not so much for scouting, but for analyzing the opposition to see how to influence their play so their players make lower percentage choices.

Manchester City have made a formal complaint to referees chief Mike Riley over the officiating performance of Michael Oliver during their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Were always the victims arent we?
Nothing like your club openly admitting you were criticising the ref when you said "thank you very much".Were always the victims arent we?
Be funny if their complaint is disregarded and then they fine Pep.

It's an industry just coming out of the dark ages.
Yup, and I feel like we're currently the world leaders in the data analytics approach. But ultimately, if you don't have a world class manager also who can get the best out of these statistical anomalies then all the R&D and data models are for nothing.

It’s quite common. I forget who the interview was with but it was PL footballer who said once the season starts, they generally don’t stop hurting and aching until the season’s over. You would hope the days of steroid injections were over though, given the long term damage to footballers in years gone by.
They don't all play through it. (Studge, I'm looking at you!)England missing Sterling
Apparently liverpool FC had orchestrated Gomez to start and England were going to lose without their only decent player.
They've now started a thread asking why they're the most picked on club in the country, I think it's because the majority of the fans are absolute belters
