Other top teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City take action at least to try get back amongst the best even though it don't always work out, that's the annoying part of Arsenal.
Why did you leave spurs out of other top teams ha ha ha

We've only overtaken you in the last couple of years, mainly from the sale of Suarez and not having to pay so much interest on debt.
That’s what I find odd about arsenal - why is Kroenke letting 150m of player value walk out the door for nothing at the end of the year? At least we will have the sense to give up on Coutinho and take the massive pile of cash and buy a replacement
Because it's not 150m of player value if those players aren't signing new contracts.

They really fked it up last summer though. They should have got the Sanchez to City deal done early doors, pocketed 60-70m and got the Lemar deal done for not much more than that.

Lemar + Lacazette would have really helped Arsenal this season and could have made all the difference.

Being brutally honest they're probably at the best they've been for over 50 years at the moment and as their owner is one of the richest men in the country seems like it should bode well when they move into their new stadium but as we know at Arsenal having a rich owner doesn't always mean they're going to support the club by investing big to make sure Arsenal compete at the top level. Since we moved into the new stadium rather than us poaching players from big clubs it's been the other way round.
Which brings me on to last night, it's January the transfer window is open we've just watched another load of calamity defending by Arsenal so why isn't Wenger putting offers in for good defenders? Liverpool think they have a problem they buy van Dijk, why can't Wenger do something similar? We know why, Kroenke is only interested in making loads of money and Wenger is st scared of losing his £8.5 million salary if he kicked a stink up about not having the money to buy top defenders.

Anyone have any views on this Centre Back Mavropanos chap? Any good? Clearly not one for the 'now' - Sky Sports have him signing then going straight off to Werder on loan. Has anyone from the Greek leagues ever met with consistent success in the UK?

Last night's game was a cracker, the somewhat doubtful penalty turned the game on its head - and the significant defensive cracks were very apparent.

that was the point I was making - who lets valuable players run their contracts down? At 2 years to go you re-negotiate and extend or sell up and replace

It wasn't really doubtful. Anywhere else on the pitch and that's a free kick, and no one bats an eyelid. People expect a bit more for a pen to be given but nothing in the laws say there's a difference, just a foul in the box. Bellarin has gone to kick the ball, and he misses and kicks hazard's foot. No intent but there doesn't need to be. Hazard makes a massive meal of it, as would any player in that position.

It wasn't though was it - anywhere else on the pitch, it's relatively innocuous contact, certainly not enough to cause him to fall over, and of course not then hold a completely different part of a different leg. Bellerin was naive certainly, and gave him the chance to create a penalty situation, which he did successfully. A better, more diligen,t ref would have interpreted that correctly and let the game play on.

Hey ho, it matters not now.

As a Chelsea fan I agree it was a soft penalty. Bellerin does catch him (brainless swinging your boot like that if you ask me!) and Hazard makes the most of it.

All well and good Wenger complaining about that when Wilshere should have been off for a second yellow minutes before the goal when he chucked himself over and moved his leg into Christensen. The decisions evened themselves out this time.

Fair result in the end for a cracking game.

Wheelchair should have been sent off (assume he'll now get a two match ban?) and it was never a pen not in a million years.

If that's so, surely everyone would agree. Not heard anyone who thinks the West Brom pen against Ar5e was correct. But the pundits, and the papers I read this morning all said it was a pen.

I think you're in a minority.

I think it's a real shame pens are rarely given if a player stays on his feet, even if he's been fouled. Hazard went down like his leg had been severed at the knee in a chain saw attack. Pathetic really. But if he'd stayed upright, I bet he wouldn't have got the decision.

That tackle by McCreadie on Bremner in the 70 cup final replay was one of the worst I've ever seen. High or what...he was lucky not to lose his ear!

I've met Chopper Harris a few times, and he's an absolute gent. Quietly spoken with impeccable manners.

Another shocker today to add the the litany of Wenger failures. Shocking defending and shocking everything else to go with it just for a change. Forest thoroughly deserved that.

I dunno man, as poor as the refs are the performance from us was beyond st.

Holding, Chambers, Mertersacker, Welbeck, Walcott (Christ, especially Walcott), El Neny and Iwobi shouldn't be in the team at all. Sell them, save the money.

I thought Ospina did ok, as did Maitland-Niles and Nelson.

Ah, the magic of the FA Cup. But why did Wenger put out such a weakened side? Very little insurance on the bench either when it started to go wrong.
