I don't read what you quoted quite like that. The way I read that Agger is clearly resisting a transfer in a interview. My thoughts are that what he's likely to be saying behind the scenes is stronger.
When there's talk of transfers some players
- talk it up, are flattered etc (open to it)
- stay silent (open to it but respectful of the current club)
- say they'd prefer to stay (as is the case of Agger - resistant to the move)
- say no chance (as in Gerrard's response to Utd's interest a few years ago)
Lets see what Suarez' response is. Do you really think he'll stay at a mid table club with what appears to be a limited budget and a manager with no international reputation (either as a player or coach/manager)?

I simply read what he said. But we could go round for days trying to decipher the "hidden meaning behind what he said". We might as well just agree that between player and club, if one party wants the player to leave that club there isn't a great deal the other party can do about it unless that party really, really dig their heels in, a la Nani at Utd and Modric at Spurs. When there's talk of transfers some players

Personally I think we'll finish high enough and show enough promise for Suarez not to have to make a decision.

And what do people think about a gamble on someone like Austin at burnley? Along with someone else
Hes the same as Beattie , Nugent , Lita etc great lower league strikers but cant cut it in the Premiership IMO. We need a proven goalscorer not someone who may score a goal every 10 games, Defoe ?n_const said:

What's that based on? I don't know enough about the lad, but your comments comes across that you do? So why couldn't he cut it? I'm interested

Don't you have your crack scouting team (ex Man City so we keep getting told) unearthing gems somewhere?
We'll find out in January. If all they can come up with is Sturridge then frankly I despair. It's hardly the work of a bunch of scouting ninjas is it?http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-ne...
I wouldn't want him, even if there is any truth in this article

No real reasons tbh , just seems like a typical championship striker like the others i mentioned who all flopped when playing for a premiership side. I just dont think its worth the risk , Liverpool have signed enough flops and id rather spend on a player who is proven at top level.I'm interested
We should start a poll -
a) ~£5m on a good young prospect from the lower leagues (maybe 10 goals a season currently)
or
b) ~£20m on a good older prospect from abroad (maybe 15 goals a season currently)
If anyone thinks, well where is option c, top money for a well proven striker - 1) who do you think is available and 2) where do you think the money is coming from?

"a)" for me, all day long. Buy a couple, develop them and move them on if they're not good enough.a) ~£5m on a good young prospect from the lower leagues (maybe 10 goals a season currently)

But we need goals now. Buying in the transfer market is always a risk but now is not the time to buy "untested at the top level" in the hope of developing them.We did well missing out on Wickham in the end last year...
