You could see it coming from the first game. 2 draws and a last minute win against 3 crap teams and then losing to a team filled with 2nd rate players but well organized and hard working.

No tactical nouse, ill prepared and utterly lacking in ideas and composure. What a fking embarrassment.
What's Woy on, £3m + a year? He was still experimenting with the 'system' in the Portugal friendly match. That's one game before a major tournament. Christ on a bike.
As soon as he started with Kane and Sterling I knew we were fked. Harry is a decent player but is clearly short of form, Sterling is useless and has gone backward since leaving Liverpool as many suggested he would.

I hope Rooney retires from international football now after Hodgson going, he's been useless for years and despite playing OK in the first 3 games was so bad tonight it's almost impossible to find the words to describe it.

Leicester - a team with desire, a plan, a work ethic. Winners.
Italy - a team with shape, tactics, belief. Winners.
Iceland - a team who cared, were organised, kept their selections. Winners.
England - can't even defend a long throw, can't address the goalkeeper's technical weakness to his left, faff around with formations instead of practising a plan, don't look like they have a plan, include players who are painfully out of form, pick players who are the manager's favourites, don't look fit, no leaders, don't look like they want the ball. Losers.

At least Hodgson has done the decent thing. Bye bye Roy, decent man, inept manager.

Mike.

Agree. Serial loser. Brazil was a disgrace, should have left in a shanty out there.

Hart is poor.
It used to be if Stilton or Clemency made a mistake it would be remembered, as they hardly ever did.

This guy makes so many howlers for club and country, it's rediculous.

This result, and more importantly performance, has ended my interest in international football.
Strange thing is I'm not upset about this result.
I know what you mean, I'm not upset more than just tired of getting upbeat, and then getting hit by the realisation that we are utterly dire at football.

Blame Greg Dyke for hiring Hodgson instead of Harry Redknapp. It was a disgraceful decision at the time by a vile, hateful Prick.
No different to the FA not giving the job to Cloughie back in the day, or not allowing El Tel to continue after Euro 96......

Its about wearing the blazer and tie well, nothing else matters to them.
Well Woy's gone now. Can we please get a proper performance coach in now; there are some outstanding candidates out there; we need some cold, hard science here like the England RU and Cycling or diving teams; we can be winners.

Bye Roy wavey

Will be out of a job for a while after this one.
Not fair.
He had a serious lack of talent on the field.
Well done Iceland. Taught our overrated garbage a lesson in passion.

Absolutely pathetic. The amount of England short passes that ended up at the feet of the Icelandic players were unbelievable. Rooney was the main culprit and I expect he will have played his last ever game for England tonight.

I fully expect Roy Hodgson to resign or be sacked tomorrow, or even tonight.

The problem/solution is obvious. Most Premiership teams have only three or four English born players in them. Take my own club, Manchester City. They have arguably the worlds finest academy, Sheikh Mansour has spent millions on it, but the young star players from there hardly ever get a sniff of the first team.

Pep Guardiola's coming in and all the talk is of this player and that player for 50mil from abroad...what chance has a young English prospect of getting a game?

Marcus Rashford is a shining example of what can be done over at United....he's still in the sixth form!!

And I have to say the arrogance of the English is mind blowing, all the talk before the game was how many goals we will thrash them by......Iceland are a very good side.

In a way I'm glad this has happened, we deserve it.

[edit] I see he's gone.

Wasn't Roys fault. He didn't overhit practically every England cross during the 4 games. The ponderous passing round the back and through the middle up to the edge of the area where the game ground to a halt and the passes were inevitably cut out. It was all too slow and England were unable to defeat the packed defences they faced in each match. Long balls were too long, shots blazed over the bar. I have been watching this level of ste since 1998 now.

Joe Hart the latest in a long line of unreliable goalkeepers.

Decent players seem to pull on an England shirt and lose all confidence or maybe they're not that good. Sterling £45m - what a laugh. Dier Ali Kane axis achieved nothing. The players looked tired.

Totally ste.
