But the 'nobody else tried for/ gave a st about' spiel is utter bull.
The line-ups used by teams in the Carling Cup this season compared to the league line-ups is at odds with this statement it would appear. It's unfortunate and I don't like it at all, but this bloody 4th place desperation is ruining domestic competitions.

Come on West Ham!!

(don't like the team or their fans, or even the area, but it'll be one more local-ish away day for me next season! smile)

Btw Raja, saw your response to beers in London - drop me a PM when you're down & we'll sort it out! If you can buy & in the right areas it's a safe investment - renting is exorbitant, I rent frown.
Thanks. I start a new project in September. I'll be down pretty regular so we'll definitely meet up.

Easily solved. FA and Carling Cup replace 3rd and 4th qualifying positions unless the winners are already 1st or 2nd in the league. Would completely reinvigorate the domestic cups.

Absolutely. Then there's a chance that 3 of the 4 entrants from England would be 'Champions' of at least something!
Once again, this season the Champions League will not be one by the 'Champions'.

Whilst I really like the idea, I fear the PL would then just chance to a "top two" league - much like La Liga.

TBH as much as some of us would have liked him I don't think there was one realistic fan who thought we would get him.

Indeed. This bizarre scattergun open recruiting process leaves us wide open to tabloid headline writers. With so many so-called 'candidates' it's inevitable that some will be happy where they are.

No chance of that happening, too many medium sized and big clubs involved in the EPL.

This top 4 nonsense has effectively turned the EPL into the regional qualifying round of the Champions League...thus diminishing the EPL whilst at the same time enhancing the ECL.

Time to re-balance this situation.

Yep.

Turns out if Kenny had won the FA Cup he'd have still been binned as its CL or bust rolleyes

Really? So if we only had two CL qualifying positions in the league, you couldn't see the two Manchester clubs almost forming a complete monopoly on them?

Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague
Just spoken to Laudrup, hes surprised about rumours but would love to get the chance to manage LFC one day.

Michael Laudrup: "I havent been approached by LFC but it is 1 of the top clubs in the world. I would love to manage that huge club one day"

Surely at 19 points between 2nd and 3rd place... the EPL is already only a 2 team race?

Well taken goal by Thomas Ince for Blackpool just now. He's looked quite handy for Blackpool since he left us!

I said this 2 days ago. CL qualification is all, that's where the serious revenues spring from. We can't expect them to be any different, although i certainly dont agree with it.They will not tolerate failure. Which could be both good and bad.

Football is dead. Long live football.
