This is the worst I’ve ever seen Southampton. What a big shame, we fully deserve relegation. Part of me hope we are relegated early and finish last, hopefully this will be the wake up call the club needs. Sadly I doubt it. If we have a late rally and still go down the club will convince themselves that they were unlucky and “The Southampton Way” remains the way forward. Plus it’s the hope that kills you.
They need a proper clear out top to bottom. I can forgive them if they just aren’t good enough (which they aren’t), but once again turning up for a must win game and showing no energy or creativity is unacceptable. 1-0 Bournemouth, 1-0 Leeds, 2-0 Place, 1-0 West Ham, 1-0 Forest. All the same, all unforgivable.
I went to Newcastle and Brighton at home this season. Both utterly awful. 250 mile round trip, £40 ticket, crappy food, terrible parking, 10hrs door to door. Won’t be doing that again for a while.

I am scarred for life as a Saints fan. My first match was 1964 an I have seen everything you can imagine, and more.Winning the cup was the best of course, especially beating Man U, and scoring nine against Wolves wasn't bad either, but watching them for the last few years has just been waiting for the hammer to fall and now it is just a case of waiting for when. A bit like Norwich really, but at least they know that when they get promoted it is only a question of when they go back down. The French have a good expression - "l'ascenceur" or "the lift". Just keeps going up and down
I guess we have been awaiting the inevitable for some years really. In 22 and 21 we finished 15th, and in the last six years never in the top 50%. Five of the last six no higher than fifteenth, hanging on by our bootstraps every season. Let's face it, three seasons ended, 114 matches played, and but 27 matches won. We really haven't been Premiership material for some years. Still, hope springs eternal and all that.

You at least game it a heck of a go last night, couldn't fault you for effort. Shame you went with such a poor choice for your second manager this season and I hope you keep Selles as he seems to have the potential to be a very good manager.Just hope we don't have to play you next season

An absolutely awful awayday (you probably feel the same about us, same distance, very similar stadiums, similar sized clubs) and we’ll both be doing it next season ffs
I'm from Cosby which may be known to you, and before that Oadby and Countesthorpe. I do particularly remember May 2nd 2016. From League Champions to Championship in seven years. How the mighty have fallen.lowdrag said:

Yes mate not too far from me all of those, right near Fosse Park.I imagine I'll be coming in here in 8 days or so and saying that we'll be seeing you next season, always thought you and Bournemouth (how they have shocked me) would be dead certs to go down so I don't find it surprising. Quality of the players maybe a little lacking but having Nathan Jones in for long ruined any chance you had of staying up.
I think you'll do miles better than us next season if that's any consolation.
