The Official World Cup 2018 Predictathon Thread
Discussion
Well, I'm blowed, it's all set up for an exciting end to the 'Thon unless your name isn't Pommy or Glover Mart, that is.
Nine people went for an England but only one, Pommy, got it spot on. That means he overtakes Glover Mart to take the lead, with Mart's single point meaning Pommy leads by a point. Mentions should also go to Mickk, Dan1981, Brabus Mog, Gadgetmac, Black Can Man, The Jiffle King and Seventy for also getting the result correct.
So it's down to the final match on the final day, appropriately called The Final. I've gone 3-1 France, Pommy has gone 3-0 France. For me to win the 'thon, it's 3-1 or bust. Pommy just needs it to NOT be 3-1.
Sadly, we lost a 'Thonner through the invoking of the "three no shows and you're out" rule, which was Jacob Lawson. Sad really as he could have still won the 'Thon up until the semi final stage, but was late in predicting twice and missed the last lot completely.
Table with one game to go.

Dan1981 is the person to feel sorry for. 41 correct results, but only 5 scores
He's also on a heck of a run right now. The last ten games, he has picked up three maximums and seven single-pointers, that's 19 points from 10 games which is fantastic form. But those maximums came from matches 58, 60 and 62 meaning he only got two scores correct out of the first 57 matches, therein iies the problem. Yeah the correct score isnt going so well.... I think at one point I had the most results and least scores
Luckily my accas are only results based. I've not had a bad world cup with the bookies.
Nothing big but steady. No huge wins. Just need a France victory for the latest....
I was convinced by a 2-0 today but saw Pommy had predicted it which meant I opted foolishly for something else.

And here's the table for confirmation that Pommy, our furthest away contestant, won the Predictathon....
An excellent competition that for a tantalising few minutes this afternoon, I was leading when France were 3-1 up. I had a couple of bets come in this afternoon that brought in £40 or so to soften the blow but ultimately, Pommy's superb form late on deservedly won him the title.
I'll put up another table later on that splits the competition into four quarters so you can see where you won or lost it, might make interesting reading. But for now, the only table that counts is this one... well done again, Pommy.

Mart.
They really are Dickensian!
Surely we can crowdfund some 20th century computer courses for you? Even if it’s just Commodore 64! Wouldn’t want to get you up to speed too quickly. Four years till the next one!
Thanks for running this, I’ve enjoyed my see-saw ride, it is much appreciated.
Pommy, well done.

And the final table from me shows the round-by-round scores. Some whopping numbers there to feast your eyes on, and shows exactly where you went right (or wrong).
Matchrounds 1, 2 and 3 correspond to the group stage rounds and matchround 4 is obviously the whole knockout stage.
Just to say thanks for playing lads, really enjoyed doing this and see you all again in 1,591 days at the Qatar World Cup 2022.
