I'd agree that we're tier 2. Barcelona and Real I'd say are in a tier of their own. Below that you have us, Bayern, Juventus, Utd. Below that I'd say you have CIty, Chelsea, PSG, Dortmund, Atletico, Spurs, etc.

As for which club players would pick. VVD chose Liverpool and Klopp over a number of clubs including Chelsea and City. Apparently there has been interest from the Spanish clubs in VVD, Salah and Mane but have been told under no circumstances will they be sold. Keita chose us over Barcelona.
I wouldnt disagree with this....

I know you have this fascination with me at the moment Guv, but if you look back at my original reply to Ascay you will see what I was on about - I was simply saying VVD is at a BIG club and he is.

Then Smarty decided to make his own tier 1 2 3 up based on what he thinks puts you in them, I never once said we were bigger than Madrid or Barca , can you find me where I have or have you just made this up to fit your post at me again?
Lol fascination, trust me you aren't that interesting? I rarely post in here these days (I wonder why?) and when I do, I mostly tend to stick to talking about football, I even try to not be too biased in an attempt to engender some decent discussion but your constant attempts to turn any discussion into a Liverpool wk fest is quite frankly boring and tends to either chase people away or turn what could be interesting discussion into pointless arguments.

When someone mentioned big club in the context of the rumours about VvD and Eriksen going to Spain, your indignation at Liverpool not being held in the same light as Real and Barca is what prompted Smarty to talk about tiers as while it was obvious to everyone else, it needed spelling out for you.

Seriously if you stepped back a bit from your massively biased viewpoint, we wouldn't feel the need to explain the bleeding obvious. Look up obsession in the dictionary, there will be a picture of you in your full LFC kit holding your triple laminated picture of Bobby no look.

Not sure I'd class Utd as a big club any more, not in the same way as Barca or Real. Yes, they still generate a lot of revenue, but they've finished outside the top four for most of the last 5-6 seasons? They've also had several high profile players turn them down and if you asked most players which club they'd choose out of Real, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, LFC, Spurs, Utd, City, PSG, Dortmund, Atletico, I imagine Utd would be way down on their options.
This was my point, if you want to do tiers yours is more realistic,

My original reply was because Ascay said about VVD going to a BIG CLUB - we are a BIG CLUB.

If were not tier 1 but tier 2 behind Barca/Madrid fine, but then every other club in world football is either tier 2 or below as we are as big as anyone bar those 2

If we are tier 2 in my opinion Spurs would be tier 3, they are not as big as us, not as successful, smaller fan base , smaller commercial revenue , less shirt sales and so on

Jammys of

1 - BARCA/MADRID
2 - UNITED,LIVERPOOL, BAYERN, JUVE, CHELSEA etc
3- SPURS etc

Is more realistic

No one other than Spurs fans would say Spurs are as big a club as Liverpool (and any other club in that tier 2 bracket).

Nope I wouldn't either but then I'm realistic about my club and not obsessed with proving they are bigger than they actually are. Also I support my local team and not one several hundred miles away because they are "bigger".

Who knew there was such a competitive thing as Spurs/Liverpool going on.

Not as big as Chelsea? They were 3rd tier just 15 years ago.

When I was born we lived in Walton, but I've spent most of my life in Manchester or Cheshire.

I was at 6th form in Moss Side when Fergie got the job and since 1990 it's been generally pretty grim in terms of football.
It's perked up the last couple of years though.

Jesus, could there have been a worse time for you to live in Manchester than the 90's? laugh

Moss side was city though wasnt it?

I went to 6th form there but didn't live there - I lived in Stockport. (I was a catholic and one of the ridiculous things I did was travel miles to go to a 6th form run by nuns!)

During the 90s it wasn't so bad as I was moving around but when I settled back here UTD had really established themselves - I ended up in business with a rabid UTD fan and nearly every Monday for years was torture.
I am still a fully paid up member of the ABU club.

Seems so.
If you capitalise BIG CLUB you’ve won, though.

Also seems as if Klopp doesn’t like the weather up north!
