I also dont understand the line-up. It is like Gareth is trying to handicap us before the match starts. Players out of position, players playing based on their name/reputation, quality in-form players either on the bench or not even in the squad (injury permitting).
Gareth, nice guy and all, he must do a raffle for his team/squad picks. I can't think of any other reason for his selections.

Glad the lad is recovering as it looked dicey from afar.
I think the continued broadcast is preferable to going back to the studio where they all start trying to outdo themselves about how its the worst thing they ever saw in their whole lives. That calms the little footy fans I bet.
As an aside I wonder about football sometimes. The opening game was apparently as hot as hell but I saw nobody drinking water during the game.
I think players would have longer careers without the dogmatic insistance of 45 mins running per half.
Its not like every game is thrilling pageturner you cant put down. Lots of action that amounts to nothing a lot of the time.
Being as they all cost 50 million plus each now you would think they would try and look after them a bit more and maybe you would question
why they dont all have a weekly ECG. Or is there a fear of uncovering problems that affects players/agents livelyhoods?

25 years ago today I fell of my motorbike and broke my back. I had seen the draw against Switzerland, missed two cracking games against Scotland and Netherlands as unconscious and then woke up to us losing against Germany on penalties
