Firmino looks very average unless he's playing in that false 9 position through the middle.

Hopefully we will get top 4 and be able to bring in quality players that mean players like Firmino and Wijnaldum add depth rather than automatic starters regardless of form, tactics or positions they play.

We really need to get defensively better. It's now both tactical and psychological.

And you're all just half a crossbar's width away from this turning into a "same old, same old "ToS moan ... !

Southampton will have quite a say on who's going to be playing in the Thursday Night Cup!

I've decided to believe that Mignolet would have saved it had it been on target.

Life is much easier that way.

Vital 3 points, Cans overhead was fit to win any game.

Shocking dive from Lucas, he needs to be a bit more subtle wink

3rd is a good representation of our season, I think (hope) we can hang on to it.

Great to get the three points. These are the games though that we need to go on and get a second and third goal, put the game to bed and help out our goal difference which might be vital at the end of the season. Still, a clean sheet is welcome too.

Another cracking game from Emre Can. Glad to see he's another that had proved his doubters wrong. I wonder if Origi will end up doing the same...

I think Origi is trusted by those who know the game. Like Klopp. He's a work in progress but he's rightly ahead of Sturridge right now.

I was impressed by emre. He injected some purpose to our midfield of sideways or backwards passing. What annoyed me a bit was when we were breaking quickly and Lucas or Gini would stop turn around and it ends up back with the centre backs or keeper when we had an advantage with men over in order to wrap the game up.

Origi is trusted because there is no one else. He is a shadow of the player we saw last season before the Everton injury.

Can is a decent squad player and indeed he is much improved, also because he has Lucas playing behind him. Be interesting to see if first if all he gets his contract and secondly if he plays as well once Henderson is back as the third midfielder. I've always thought it's one of Henderson or Can in the starting line up not both.

We will buy an upgraded striker and we will buy a stronger midfielder in the summer. I don't need knowledge in the game to see we need to make improvements in these two areas.

We got lucky and maybe we deserved a bit of luck. We went away to a team who's season is over and offered very little bar a genuine moment of genius. Hopefully we have both Coutinho and Lallana on the pitch on Sunday. Who knows, maybe even Sturridge might start a game after he's finished one...

It is slightly worrying that we're not scoring the simple goals at the moment. Both Coutinho's goal and Can's worldie were extraordinary, but we can't rely on players to pull something like that out of the bag every game to give us 3 points!

Obviously our Brazilian Lucas has been watching too much of those pesky diving English players, terrible stuff.
Some pass for the goal though, so he's still my fave smile

Lucas still has more PL assists (3) than Ramsey, Willian, Rashford and Mkhitaryan this season.
Lucas has the same amount of assists in his last 5 Prem games than in his 163 games before that.

Oh and I just want to mention that Mignolet had another superb game. Really commanded the area against Watford and pulled off a couple of good saves!

And a player like Lucas gives us balance. I've always been a fan. Play him in that defensive midfield role and it frees up those in front of him. He's not the answer long term, injuries have unfortunately affected him but for the last 3 games he would play in my midfield.

Lucas
Can Wij
Lallana Firmino Coutinio

maybe even
Lucas
Lallana Can
Firmino Sturridge Coutinio

Origi for me looks shot.

Origi will be here next season. Not first choice, but Klopp likes him.

I don't think he was as bad as some are making out.

I'm not sure where you got that Klopp likes Origi. And hasn't Origi been making noises about needing assurances on playing more?

I'd happily see Origi and Sturridge sold and we put the c30 million towards a 50 million pound striker that suits Klopp's style of play and can rotate with Firmino and even Ings.

As to who that striker is, I have no idea.

I'd rather we bought a super striker too but would sell Sturridge and Ings before Origi.

No one is going to buy Ings just yet. I'd imagine him going on loan.

So you'd go into next season with just Firmino and the new striker? Personally I'd keep Origi and sell Ings after playing him in the league cup.
