So you'd go into next season with just Firmino and the new striker? Personally I'd keep Origi and sell Ings after playing him in the league cup.
Yes. And promote a kid. We only play with one anyway. New superstar, Firmino and a kid is fine by me for one position.

Thoroughly deserved. What a player and manager but above all a very humble person who has done so much post-Hillsborough for the families - an incident that deeply affected him (understandably). A true red.

Absolutely. A club legend and fully deserving of the honour.

Good to see Liverpool have named the new stand the Kenny Dalgliesh stand for next season.
Centenary not the Main, and from next season not just for as I read it, good on them, he deserves it.

Which kid?

And that approach is fine until the main striker is injured, Firmino is out of form and then everyone is moaning about depth.

That's crazy, you've spent the last few months berating FSG and Klopp about a lack of depth and not strengthening in January and now you're advocating even less cover for a position. Say the new superstar gets injured and Firmino has to cover out wide (maybe Mane is away at AFCON) and all of a sudden we're starting with a kid and have little on the bench.

Better than 3 strikers and Firmino where Firmino is the only one that suits the system the manager plays.

I'd love to see a 50 million pound quality striker that is a proven genuine talent taking the next step up in his career, exactly what Torres was and also Suarez to an extent. No more Benteke's or Carroll's or Origi's and N'gog. We need to get this position nailed and at the very least the sale of Sturridge will help fund this.

Its the same in the other positions

Laser for a wide player
Lucas and Stewart for a midfielder
Moreno for a full back
Sakho and Wisdom for a centre back
Karius/Ward to fight it out with Mignolet

Dalgliesh? Paisly? You're either young, very new to football or have a broken keyboard. smile

Have you got a misplaced capital anywhere that you could use to give Bob his warranted respect?

I like the subtitle - stitch that, Fergie hehe

Although there's already been a biog of Bob so I wonder how much new stuff this can bring up.

I liked Bob. Was too young to ever remember Shanks. Ray Clemence was my childhood hero. Was gutted when he went off to Spurs.

Looking forward to reading it.

Me too , just hope there are no spelling mistakes in it.

The Author was saying that Shanks felt that Paisley wasn't up to the job & Paisley himself never really wanted it.

His reign was a golden age for british football.

Its not news that Paisley didn't want the job - he had to be persuaded to take it. I've not once seen it said that Shanks didn't think he could do the job - only ever read the opposite. But the idea people have that Paisley was a softie is nonsense - he was a hard bugger, like managers have to be. I guess the players having a pop at him will be the ones he got rid of. Will bring something new to the story, at least - you only read positive stuff usually.
