New Arsenal manager talking a good game too, pressing, tempo, possession and fighting hard when not in possession, very Guardiola-esqe.
All true and may be the fashionable way to play.

But if you regularly played the way you did against us in the first half of the last game, I would think you would all be alot happier.

Maybe not at the cutting edge of tactics but effective and powerful.
Not boring.

To be honest, any style of play would be a welcome change. Utd had no style of play this year. Just a bunch of slightly confused players who were a bit scared to try anything until pushed into a corner.

But when pushed showed they can beat anyone on the day, including city at home!

Because we have some excellent players (Pogba first amongst them, apart from DDG, as that game showed). Nothing to do with how they are being coached to play. The style of play has basically not improved for years, apart from the odd glimpse of how good a side this could be. We have just become more stubborn and harder to beat. The football is about as bad as ever.

According to the mirror talks have begun with Levy for Toby. They want £75m for him and are using VvD as their benchmark.

That's steep for a 29 year old but what's the alternatives?

If 75m is the rate for a top defender then we'll no doubt be paying that sort of money. Levy is at best a tightwad of the highest order but more than happy to sell good players once he gets what he wants.
Midfield is where we need to spend big imho, other than the big old donkey that is Phil Jones our CD isn't that shabby assuming of course we never allow DDG to become unhappy enough to leave.

Do we even have scouts anymore? We seem to sign players based on them being in the papers.

At 29, we could be paying £75m plus wages for two seasons. He could be worth nothing in 2 years. We surely aren’t quite that muggish.

How much saved/income from the following moving on in wages and or fees?
Fellaini, Shaw, Darmian, Martial, Jones, carrick (retired).
Got to be £600k per week min in wages alone?

We will be working behind the scenes on all our targets. Papers just get leaked information by clubs, players, agents, managers etc.

Scouting seems to be 'old tech' now. I wouldn't surprise me if some clubs check FIFA 18 stats as part of their initial investigation.

£75m is robbery. We had to pay so much because of the tapping up scandal, which basically meant that Southampton could name their price. City were supposed to be out of the running at £60m. And VVD is only 26 so just coming into his prime - Toby is just leaving his prime.

How old were Ferdinand and Vidic when they were in their prime ... ? 29 is hardly old in terms of a defender. John Stones is younger but not as good/ Ah, potentially maybe, but again, maybe not!

If Alderwotsit were that good though, then surely Poch would be keeping him, or is just down to tightwad Levy?

Think he wants to leave as he is on £50k a week and they wont meet his demands

AIUI he has a £25m release clause that kicks in next year and he doesnt look like hes gonna sign so I hope we dont pay £75m

He's really good but it's classic Levy.
One more contract and his capital value will be next to nothing

Utd have so much cash it really doesn't matter.

The problem with having 'so much cash' is nothing really has a value, so you end up buying anything that looks half decent just because you can afford it... eg; Sanchez in United's case, or half the dross we bought with the Suarez money.

DiMarzio (Tier 1 Journo) has said Fred is done

"Last RT from @DiMarzio suggests Manchester United have agreed a deal with Shakhtar for Fred at £44 million and the club also retain an interest in one of Mario Mandzukic and Marko Arnautovic"

Obligatory YT vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ONQjh4Q5JQ

Genuinely dont know much about him at all, looking at the vid, assume he takes the Hererra Role in a midfield 3?

Reports as well that Jose has said PP is Unsellable (I am taking this as he wants to keep him, rather than no one will buy him hehe)

ETA: If the reveal for Fred isn't just the Mascot dancing around, removes the giant head to reveal Fred, they have missed a trick

Watched some of the Fred vid.
Positives:
He’s composed on the ball in a tight space.
He’s quick.
His short passes in the video were good choices and found the target.
He’s got an eye for a killer medium through-ball or over the top.
He can switch play to either wing.

Negatives:
He can’t shoot (maybe we don’t so much need him to). Either weak or wide unless a tap-in even on his highlights reel!
He seems to favour tackling with the wrong foot.
He won’t get so many wide-open options for sweeping passes playing for United.

Overall, he could be decent or even maybe a Kante. Time will tell.

He looks quick, direct, can carry the ball, sees a pass and two footed. Like all that.

Would love Arnoutovic (sic). I think he’s the kind of player who would love playing for United.

Yes, Arnie could be interesting. He’s got that aggressive streak too which we’ve been lacking up front since Ibra.
