He was cuptied hence not playing. Rutter is woeful. Hopefully the awful penalty doesn’t dent his confidence. Need a response on Saturday. We don’t do cup runs anyway, lets focus on the league
Ah, forgot it was second round so that makes sense.

It was just the lack of any sort of confidence. Every other one until Shackleton they just put their laces through it (for both teams) and keepers hardly got near. Shackleton also tried to be too cute but if it had come off, the keeper was nowhere near.

As you said, fixture issues mean cup runs are not important. But the fact remains that our achilles heels of a rocky defence and inability to put chances away still remain from the days of MB. Some decent football aside, they need fixing ASAP

Djed Spence now confirmed on season long loan. Much needed signing IMO. Let's see what the last couple of days of the transfer window brings.
I think Spence is a good player but in truth I don't know why we've recruited another right back when we've already got decent cover for that position (Ayling, Byram, Drameh and, as he showed last night, Shackleton should the need arise). In point of fact, I do wonder if this will spell the end for Drameh - selecting Shackleton in front of him last night showed where he is in the pecking order and Spence's arrival will only make things worse for him. To be honest I don't think he's ever been given a proper chance at Leeds and it wouldn't surprise me if he's gone by the time this transfer window closes on Friday night.

Personally I'd have thought the priority should have been more for a left back as that's a position where we've been sadly lacking for a while. Sounds like we showed an interest in Luke Thomas from Leicester but he's apparently destined for Sheff Utd; just hope we've got a decent alternative or two to fall back on and can get one of them over the line this week....

Feels like the same old story at the minute. Both Salford and Wednesday we've had loads of opportunities but can't hit the target often enough to get over the line.

Fingers crossed Barndoor comes back and shows us how it's done

Given our record against Millwall - and when playing in London generally - that was a pleasant surprise today!

Although I thought Meslier still looked a bit lacking in confidence at times, defensively we improved as the game went on and going forward we looked good - with the strikers we have available I think we'll be able to worry a lot of teams this season. It feels like the division is again going to be competitive and quite open but from what I've seen so far I like Farke and think once he's had time to work with a settled squad we'll have a decent chance of competing for the playoffs - fingers crossed!

3 goals up and a clean sheet is always good, but against Millwall it is all the sweeter. The new bloke seems to have fitted in pretty quickly!

Another two points dropped tonight. Really should have been ahead at halftime and even after we went down to 10 men for the last half hour we looked more than competitive until the final ten minutes; still, they did contrive to miss what was pretty much an open goal near the end so it could have been worse!

But failing to get what we deserve out of games is becoming a bit of a habit and it's one we need to break; hopefully we'll manage to take all the points off Watford at the weekend.

The yellow card on Rondon was one of the softest yellow cards you will ever see.

When was the last time we went

1) 5 league games unbeaten ?

2) kept 3 consecutive clean sheets ?

Only 2 points off a play off place and looking harder to beat than in the last two seasons

I thought both of Rodon's yellows were pretty soft. We looked noticeably worse in defence when Cooper came on.

Summerville had a great game last night and was unlucky not to get a goal.

Probably the last time the opposition was at the sort of level we've played recently!

Yes but, with the exception of Ipswich, we haven't really played any of the front runners in the division. I do think we should be competitive for a play-off place but I'm not so sure how we'll do against a team like Leicester when we come to play them...

Thought we were excellent today; only 3-0 in the end but 6-0 wouldn't have flattered us and, as the old Bill Shankly quote goes, they were lucky to get nil! Lots of very good individual performances all over the pitch but I thought Summerville and especially Rutter were excellent.

Not going to get carried away based on one result but if we can keep playing at that level I think a playoff place is a realistic target...

That's 3 games in a row where we suddenly seem at least competent. I'm worried...
Okay, the Hull match was a disappointment, but even so we weren't awful.

I think we've been at least competent in most of our games this season but just haven't always got the results we've deserved. And arguably we still didn't today as IMO Watford were lucky to only get beaten by three - could easily have been double that. If we have a game where the team clicks and the ball runs for us I think we've the potential to give someone a real hiding...

After several good performances that was really disappointing today, especially against a team that's been struggling of late and was potentially there for the taking. I thought the game was closer than the final score suggested but there's no doubt we were well off it compared to how we've been playing recently - hopefully we'll be better against QPR on Wednesday.

Pretty standard for us. Them playing poorly and on a bad run, us on an unbeaten run and a decent performance last time against Watford.

It was perfectly placed for them to lift their game against us.

Well at least we won last night but there were a couple of nervy moments towards the end because we'd failed to put the game to bed despite dominating throughout. In truth I thought QPR were pretty poor and to beat them by only one goal was a bit disappointing; still, a win's a win...

Bamford was disappointing with that dive, although I do want to check it again on a replay as first time through I thought there was a slight clip and he overplayed it massively.
