Ambition isn't the problem, the quality and ethic of the player is the issue.
This. Absolutely zero quality youngsters coming through who could be world class except Wilshere.
Pinning my hopes on Wilfried Zaha but looking at the under 21 squad doesn't give me much hope of any improvement in the next 5 years.

If the results of shoot outs were included, we'd be outside the top fifty.
That would make drawing with Poland a bloody brilliant result hehe
Which it is!

A few pages back some people got upset when I said this current England team would probably get its arse handed to it by most of the teams in the Top 10 and a few from the Top 15.

Poland are ranked 54th.

Still, we might hold on for a draw. biggrin
England will never be anything other than unambitious under Woy. They might sneak some results against the run of play, but that's about it.
What do you expect? Flat 442 with no options to pass to, we were always going to struggle. So many times our defenders were trying to play the ball out to feet, but the midfield was flat & offering no options. Defoe was the wrong choice for this game, Carroll would have been a good target man for Rooney to play off, don't think I can remember Defoe getting a touch?

I've said it before, but none of our players seem to want the ball passed to them.

They hide behind players or run away, there is no excuse for that at the top level. People seem to use the excuse that other countries have more technical players than us. I think it's complete rubbish, every country has the 2 or 3 three (more if lucky) exceptional players but others are no different to that produced here.

What is different is the mindset and instructions provided by the manager. Until that changes there is no point in getting excited about watching an England team.

I think one of the main reasons is that the entire squad to a man would much rather play club matches than go through the chore of international games. Of course they'd never admit that, but playing for the national team has little prestige in comparison to a CL or Premiership league game.
How many times have our diva players been unfit for international duty, then miraculously fully recover a couple of days later for a club game?

That may be true, but last night there were plenty of good players capable of running around for 90 mins and pass the ball 10 yards.

What's stopping them is mentality and coaches instructions.

Yep. Debutants Osman, Sterling and Caulker all doing well. Stevie is anchoring/quarterbacking very well too.

Still, come on Woy, get them off, important games at the weekend.

So Jenkinson gets his debut for England just as Arsenal remove him from their first team after a brilliant start to the season.

How odd.
