I was unaware that since winning the World Cup last year Spain have lost 4-1 to Argentina, 4-0 to Portugal and 2-1 to Italy.

Wont matter who you take, young or old, experienced or not, if the 'culture' they've been brought up with isn't right.

As somebody said on another thread, have you seen the Barca youth team yikes You wouldn't know they weren't the first team if it weren't for their height/size.

Agreed. I'd swap Young for Bale though.
yes

Why oh why did he decide to play for Wales and blight his international career???

Surely he had a mother's uncle's cousin who once ate a cornish pasty back in the mists of time thus qualifying him for an England call-up!

That would be the Golden Era that won what exactly? Or made how many finals? Or did anything other than sign hair sponsorship deals?
The media so called "golden era", not really a golden era.
We should call it a Brown era to match with our previous Chancellor of the Exchequer...
...or the "Promises, Promises" era to match our current Chancellor of the Exchequer...

Hmmm, that is the Kevin Keegan style of management and you see where that got us.
yikes Agree entirely with this.

What works with a group of tight-knit players under your control everyday is a world away from the spec required at International level.

Disparate groups of players from different club backgrounds with differing tactical regimes coming together on a ad-hoc basis need forging into a team with a game-plan to outwit the opposition coach's acumen.

It's well documented that Redknob doesn't really "do" tactics, he does inspiration. If so, we'll be found out pretty fking quick.

Parker over Gerrard would obviously be based on current form.

As for Parker being quiet...

...and the same has been said at Spurs I believe.

There's also the general consensus of his part in the Englands matches in the last 12 months: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17189183

...not that fans should have the final word.

Anyone still think Gerrard should have ben captain tonight?

Looks like the plan was always for him to come off early.

what has parker done well? He has done nothing other than keep ball and be absent on the break that caused the goal. A couple of blocks do not make you international class.
International class? I said he's done well, calm it bunny. He's put in a few good tackles. Done well does not mean international class, but he's done well for a Spurs player.
Who's played substantially better for England tonight?
