Which is why you (mods) need help. You haven't been effective in identifying the issues, dealing with the issues or allowing the community to have any control. You've let so called "banter" ride, you allow posters to act as wums.

The issue that Craig had a problem with led to the last LFC thread closure even though Craig was banned months ago.

(Please don't take this the wrong way it is meant as feedback.)
UF, enough please. Point made.

Got mod issues take them up with me, But not now.

Not sure how you would implement it but I think posters should made aware they need to contribute/post across the forums, not just the football threads.

It may weed out a few of the footy trolls.

But this is the problem .... we've banned people from the threads, we've locked the threads; everyone promises to be on best behaviour .... then a week later back to square 1.
Easy solution, scrap the football forum if its causing you to much hassle.
I joined PH years ago mainly for its TVR content. When i want to talk about Everton i will go on the various EFC fora, i`m sure the rest of you can do the same, most clubs have at least one dedicated site.PM your mates to come and join you, and ruck and sling insults there. biggrin OK i post the odd thing on the Everton thread here, but thats just to stop Andy Mac talking to himself hehe

PH = Cars
Everton/your club = Football Fora
All IMHO of course

But, we now have one of the biggest photography forums and watch forums in the country and thriving computer games and cycling forums too.

The days of one car forum are long gone, and it makes us (in the mail) a better place as the non-car content remains unhindered by O/T content.

That's fair but I really enjoy PH as it isn't a specific site. I enjoy cars/watches/Current affairs etc and pistonheads has them all in the one place. I have made mates on this site, got tickets for the game on the lfc thread, made purchases from the advice I have been given, etc.

Cars brought me here but the other threads keep me as a user.

It's the reason I want the footy section to work as I enjoy other areas so much.

Exactly. No one has come on this site purely for the football threads.

Keep the LFC thread closed, there's been less arguing since it was padlocked. Funny that.

So if the threads cause the mods to much hassle, bin the forum then? You will still have, god knows how many other forums on the site to keep you amusedbiggrin

Taking action against individual posters seems the best option rather than a blanket closure.

With football it seems quite emotionally charged and calling either posters, players, managers, clubs or fans names I don't find acceptable and it leads to arguments.

Moderation perhaps needs to be slightly tougher to uphold the rules in this section however it also needs to be consistent without expressing views and opinions.

Where bans are handed out I think consideration needs to be given as to the route cause - has someone else or others contributed and should all parties be banned, not just the one that lost it.

One further thought is that some moderation of posts could be done by mods 'removed for breaching xxxx' could deter others?

I guess we all just need to act as grown ups smile

Would Ferg / Kinky / Garlic comment on what you guys see as the main problem we have in the threads that cause you problems?

Is it "banter" going too far? Out and out insults? "wind up" posts going too far?

What do you guys see as the main problems?

Total disrespect for the Moderation.

That's my only and final comment.

I'd be tempted to apply to Mod.

I don't watch/support football (like the game as a piece of athelticism, but hate the petty tribalism), have no team to support (apart form England), and would therefore hopefully be fairly impartial.

Not sure if its realistic though having a non-supporter modding a specialist forum......

In all seriousness I've been reading the football forums from the beginning but have rarely posted since the start of last season simply due to the continual circular arguments.

In that time I've noted there's only two threads which require constant modding despite all the warnings. If people can't take heed and behave appropriately why should they be given another opportunity?

It's obviously your call but history will only repeat itself, IMO.

Agreed, even though that would probably see me banned from any future LFC thread, it's not fair to deprive the less aggressive posters.
