You're not the master debater you think you are.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/30/f...
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premi...
https://www.kickitout.org/pages/faqs/category/repo...

From the last link:
"Discrimination in both professional and grassroots football rose significantly in the 2018/19 season with reports up by 32 per cent, new figures show.

Statistics from Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, show reports rose to 422 in 2018/19, up from 319 in the previous year.

Alarmingly, incidents of racism continue to rise. It remains the most common form of discrimination in both professional and grassroots football, constituting 65 per cent of reports – a 43 per cent rise from 2017/18.

Although an increase in reports could highlight a more confident approach to reporting incidents, the leap in reports could also identify that discrimination across the game is still an issue which needs ongoing and constant education and the application of appropriate sanctions.

Faith-based discrimination, which includes Islamophobia and antisemitism, rose higher than any other across this period, with reports increasing by 75 per cent from 36 to 63."

If I had the time it would be interesting to check out the national crime statistics and see how they compare, but then again you'll probably just twist it.

Based on the figures it's almost as though these campaigns do not work!
Who'd have thought highlighting that people were different would lead to disharmony?

This is the point I've made a number of times. When an incident happens in football it's headline news. Everyone gets to hear about it and the clubs and fans are widely called out. When the same thing happens in rugby it doesn't make the top of sport pages and goes unnoticed. Even if it does get noticed there isn't the same reaction. Nobody really cares for some reason.

Reading the club's statement. "Alcohol was thrown". That gives the impression that fans and players were splashed with alcohol, not that pints were thrown. When something is thrown in football it's a bottle, it's a missile, it's a projectile. It's never been described as throwing water or Coca-Cola at players before.

It's strange that two identical incidents can end up with a completely different reaction and tone.

Football gets focus because it has an endemic problem. Just this month we've had three incidents where fans invaded the pitch and assaulted players and coaches.

I suspect if any other sport had a problem approaching that level, it would get the same reaction.
You are quickly to highlight discrimination when it suits, but equally you keep showing complete double standards and badly undermining yourself. You are so obsessed with aiming at one group, you are blinded what happens elsewhere.

Football has a problem. We all see that. Rugby also has the same issues, but you've got an endless list of excuses. Why can't you admit rugby has problems? Why did you make excuses for the racism in cricket?

You don't like racism, bullying, sexism. Why in other matters do you love and promote companies with those issues?
I asked that yesterday and you skipped over it. Why does it only matter when it comes to football?

You say you don't ever post in the NP&E section as it's a cesspit. Your behaviour on here is exactly like that. Totally fixated on one part of the problem with very imbalanced and unfair views. Always blame when it's football and always an excuse when it's rugby.

Everyone has picked up that you're angry. It's not to dismiss your points. It's very clear that you're trying to antagonise and wind up people. This thread is worse than most in the NP&E section.

What are you hoping to achieve? You can read the thread and see it's not going well.

That complete rubbish, and you know it.

Rugby doesn't have "the same issues". There are no rival fans singing racist/sectarian songs to antagonise each other. There's no mass unrest at games. There are not regular pitch invasions where players and staff are assaulted. There is no persistent issue of fans throwing missiles onto the pitch, aiming to injure players and staff. There are no fans singing songs about tragedies the other team's fans/players have suffered.

So, if I don't admit it, it's because it isn't the same.

I also didn't make excuses for racism in cricket. I said it was abhorrent. But it's not an endemic problem among fans as it is in football. You can find a handful of disgusting incidents (like in Sydney last year), but I don't see any cricketers having to come out publicly and ask opposing fans to stop singing racist songs directed at their nationality as Son did recently.

So, no, cricket doesn't have the same problem.

And if by "not going well" you mean we have a bunch of fans keen to either sweep it under the carpet via whataboutism or tell me to go find another sport if I don't like it, then yeah this thread is going terribly.

He's trolling, as I said in my post. Best just ignore him, he's not interested in facts or debate.

Football certainly needs to square up to taking action, which is what this thread got resurrected in relation to. He's just tried to derail it.

Cricket absolutely has the massive problems with racism. Its not fans singing songs, its players being racist to each other

Who is sweeping it under the carpet? Nearly every fan on here is aware football has issues.

You keep sweeping the issues under the carpet in other sports. The excuse is continuously it's not as bad as football and want to ignore it. You can't see the irony and double standards?

Why are you skipping the question about your love for a companies embroiled in racism, sexism and bullying? How can you spend so much time for criticising football for these issues, but you actively love and promote companies with the same issues?

No, he's talking about Mikkeller.

A Danish brewery, whose beers I like.

In a thread about football fan behaviour.

It's absolutely peak whataboutism.

And you wonder why I say you lot want to ignore the issues.

It's trolling pure and simple. Should be reported. Fortunately I have a Chrome addin that hides forum posts from posters on my list of known trolls. So if you guys would just stop quoting him I wouldn't see any of his nonsense. laugh

You should abstain from drinking them unless you are happy to be a two faced tt because it suits whilst simultaneously ignoring the issues you gob off about

And there it is, folks.

A tiny fracture in the armour, and they open up on the personal attack on a completely unrelated subject.

Some might suggest this is because they don't have a counter-argument for the topic at hand. I might give them the benefit of the doubt though.

No its because you are a two-faced tt attempting to take the moral high ground but only when it suits.

Plenty of counter-arguments but you are deaf to them so its better to point out your hypocrisy instead and mock you for it

Again, who is ignoring the issues?

It's just a football thread again? Throughout this thread you've used the behaviour of others to put down football fans. When it suits it becomes just a football thread.

My repeat point is that you only care about issues when they are related to football. The direct question is why they only matter when it's football? You actually excuse and defend the same incidents when they happen elsewhere in sport or companies you love. It's not whataboutery it's highlighting your double standards.

You won't join in debates in the NP&E as you think it's a cesspit. You have the chance to debate, educate, correct the bad, but you hide away. You've created your own cesspit in this thread as your posts are akin to the antagonistic, discriminatory and warped views sometimes seen in the NP&E.

Football needs to clean up it's act. So does other sports. So does the rest of the country.

I don't see the point in this thread as each time it's raised it only ends with you getting angry, confrontational and upset. Why put yourself through this when it's going absolutely nowhere?

Is it hypocrisy?

Or is it just you desperately searching for something completely unrelated that you can attack me personally about?
