I’m convinced the PL have deliberately stuck their heads in the sand with this one, pretending it wasn’t happening. They didn’t want it to happen, of course, but could not provide a valid reason why. So instead, they’ve simply ignored it until the ‘problem’ went away. After all, they’ve got to keep us northern monkeys where we ‘belong’. Bet if it was anyone else it would have gone through no bother. Whole situation stinks. Oh well, back to the usual crap.

Careful, MG511 will be accusing you of being pessimistic ajap1979 said:
Reading a few reports that Ashley tried to renegotiate the deal in the past week. Surely he can’t have been going for more money?
I don't believe that imho. 300M in the middle of a pandemic is a great deal. That was probably released by the EPL to deflect blame. I guess now all is left to figure out why they let the deal collapse. Piracy seems plausible but could have easily been sorted out. "Sportswashing" seems very unlikely or they'd be making a fuss about Qatar WC. That seems more of a BBC thing to do.
Any takers for the theory that the takeover would upset the apple cart up north and therefore lower the value of the end product?

Yep
I’m sure you were sat at the negotiating table going through the detail.
If MA wants to sell the club then he needs to price it accordingly.
It’s been for sale for donkeys years and the reason is the price.
The price had been agreed. The Premier League have done everything in their power to ensure it wouldn’t go ahead. Simple as that really.I’m sure you were sat at the negotiating table going through the detail.

I think you're right.Rumours that we're in talks with you about signing Lascelles? Thoughts on him? I've always rated him and think he would be a great addition, not sure what he'd cost though. I didn't really believe it, but makes more sense now if this takeover has failed.
Disappointed for Newcastle and especially their fans, they deserve better. As has been said, hopefully an alternative and more credible buyer will be found and Ashley will finally be gone; however, how long that will take is anyone's guess, especially if Ashley insists on sticking out for top dollar....

Someone met his asking price, the value has been confirmed for him now. While he can still take the free advertising, all the merchandise, as well as where all the transfer fees go. He won’t be in any rush.I think it’s a lucky escape for you lads.
I suspect the PL were talking with the parties in the background and it was decided to pull out instead of trigger all the politics of failing the fit and proper test?
You’re a massive club with huge revenues. You’ll get the right owner soon enough.
