Yep, I guess I'm super naive then!
Kane is on £200k a week apparently, so no, I don't believe he is there just out of loyalty. Son is on a lot too. But plenty of their other players, yeah, I do believe that they are in it to build something with Spurs. They're on the up, they have a new stadium coming and they know that they'll be Spurs heros if they manage to deliver a trophy to the club. Along with Poch being there, I can easily imagine that this all contributes to a really good feeling within the club, and that they're happy enough with what they're getting now.
Sure, there may well be a time (possibly soon) that this isn't true any more, but for now I reckon 'belief in the project' is a major factor in many of them staying.
Anyway, it's not like any of that takes away the point I was making. Right now, our neighbours don't seem to need much input from their owners, and so they aren't really in the same place as us, regardless of what spending graphs say. We need more money spent on players and probably more money full stop, but we aint gonna get it.
i guess you are! lets be fair players become spurs heroes simply for scraping a draw with barca B team, not to mention all the dvs's for other draws and honorable losses their fans lap up.Kane is on £200k a week apparently, so no, I don't believe he is there just out of loyalty. i wouldn't say they are on the up, they have found a level and been consistent. they have taken advantage in recent years (as Leicester did) of a combination of the managed decline at arsenal, the uselessness of Woodward at United and UK Govs targeting and peeing off of Ambraomvcih leading to him reducing investment and letting others take more control of the club.
they have been incredibly lucky in 'hes not really one of our own' coming within a whisker of being flogged on the cheap to carrying them for years. Their time has been the last few seasons and now, but is slipping away. The stadium as previously mentioned will be nothing but a millstone as matchday revenues are rather meaningless in this age of the crazy TV money. Other teams are getting their houses back in order, finally. Players will actually want to play for big clubs (see eriksens running down of his contract) and start to leave (as will poch, unless he wants to remain a big fish with no pressure to win anything), and once Kane goes in the summer it will start to unravel as despite the high fees they will get they never spend it well.
Add to that Lewis is getting on in years and the time will be nigh that ENIC will flog the club to the highest bidder. that could become interesting as they could get a Kroenke or a Sheikh. Remember Abrahomivich seriously considered buying them before he bought Chelsea.
Anyway must stop commenting on spurs on an Arsenal thread.
on topic i though Eddie Nketiah showed nothing, and doubt he will make it, and willock despite his goals didnt offer much. Not convinced. Of the kids Smith rowe looks a talent, but that's it.
Serious questions over our youth set up need asking, when did we last produce a young striker of PL quality?? Kevin Campbell, Mark Flatts???

Yep, just like Like Van Persie, Sanchez and Cole they'll all want to play for a big club sooner or later.theplayingmantis said:

Dude... Willock's 19 and got the job done on a night when someone needed to, and allowed us to rest more senior players. What more would you want from him? Sure, he's not Mbappe, but most kids aren't. Serious questions over our youth set up need asking, when did we last produce a young striker of PL quality?? Kevin Campbell, Mark Flatts???
I'm disappointed in Nketiah for missing his opportunities, but then last year he scored two goals when we needed them against Norwich. I think he's another that is young enough to not be written off because of his age.
I'd like both those players do a year out on loan getting a lot of first team football, it seems to be doing good things for Nelson. These teenagers aren't the finished article at all, I don't know why they'd be written off at this stage. Indeed, the whole point of a good coach is to improve these players, is it not?

ramsey? please most gooners want rid of sir flickalot, one good third of a season and the rest crap.
Adebayor? same, to a man everyone was delighted he f*cked off.
