Karius was very highly rated when we bought him. For whatever reason, his progression ended there. Perhaps he thought he had it made. Maybe he's just not someone who can handle that pressure. God knows.
We were very optimistic.

Didn't last very long.

I’d guess it’s more about where he came from. Portuguese league vs Bundesliga and PL.
Same league as we bought Darwin from, yet < 50% of the wages.

Flip Martian said:
On the flip side, it's a 6 year contract. How often do we hand those out?
Darwin, Szobo, Grav and Mac Allister are all on 5 year deals and Cody is on 5.5 the same as Diaz due to being a January signing.

Fair one. Not that I’m trying to justify it, but maybe Darwin was on more to begin with. Maybe it was the transfer fee. Maybe it’s because he’s a striker.

Still sure he wouldn't make a perfect Mo replacement? smile

What a player we have on our hands with this lad.

ETA - Have you seen the amount of goals and assists our lot have gotten during this international break so far? Ridiculous.

Some player we have there. The future is bright. Perhaps we should be signing Hungary's goalie as well, for cover hehe

Our guys have had a really good international break. Hopefully it gives them all some fresh impetus for this busy run we've got over the next couple of months.

Mo and Diogo have at least finished their international duties now, so they'll have a fulll week of training ahead of the City game.

Awful news for Bobby. His dad died of a heart attack over the weekend whilst on a family holiday, only 62..

Awful thing to happen. The Echo journalist wants shooting for using that poor translation of Bobby's wife's post. Deepl is usually a bit more accurate:

"What a void you've left here, my father-in-law.
What is this pain?
Everything was fine!
Our plans were to have our first family trip together. Every year our parents would visit us, but we wanted quality time, an emotional memory that would last forever.

And so it was! They arrived three days early, applied for their visas for Arabia, went for a walk and then we arrived to spend the best four days of our lives together, which were interrupted halfway through. Something was different, and it really was! Even in a rush with 14 people, everything was calm, we were all very happy and impressed by the beauty of this place. Roberto, oh my love, you were feeling something, my eyes focussed on the great care you were taking with him, always walking beside him, helping him into the van, taking selfies together, you loved him so much during those two days. On 18 November, the grandparents went back to being children with their granddaughters, we went to an amusement park, what an incredible day! Bel wanted to go on a rollercoaster with us and we had our hair on end, we knew it was too extreme for him and we feared that something might happen, the safety lock didn't close and so he didn't go. But the danger that day wasn't the rollercoaster, the danger that day was tiredness and a cough before going to sleep.

My God, it's so hard to digest all this! Our hearts are so grateful for the opportunity to say goodbye so beautifully, but because of it the pain is even greater. Bureaucracy and uncertainty make the days longer. Seeing the suffering of my mother-in-law, Roberto and my sister-in-law crushes my heart, I wanted to take that pain away from them. My God, what strong and sensitive people, with every breath a despair and with every despair a breath of let's get back on our feet because we trust in our God. I learn so much from them. We wanted more! Our plans were to return to Arabia together so that we could now present our new life to our parents. And now our plans are one day at a time, learning to live with our homesickness. Thank you my father-in-law, thank you crazy for every moment together. See you soon!"

Sounds like he already had heart problems and they knew about them. 62 is no age though. Sheesh.

2 more for Darwin.

Great finish for the first

By my reckoning that's 13 senior goals from our players during this international break and zero for City.

We're even banging them in at U21. Harvey also got another against Serbia on Saturday. )

Absolute class from Harvey, and great to see Morton and Quansah involved as well.

Most of City’s players conveniently picked up ‘injuries’ just before the international break. Haaland twisted his hair band, Rodri has a suspected sprained eyebrow. They’ll all be fine on Saturday.

Tyler Morton is still a red too!

Indeed. A goal and assist from him, 2 for Harvey and a first start for Quansah. Great stuff.

What exactly does that prove (or even intimate)?

I'm sure you can work it out but incase not it proves they're in form and intimates at high confidence levels before the hardest game of our season.

How is that not obvious?

Indeed. 9 goals from our front 3 and another 7 from our midfielders in 2 games is pretty impressive I thought. The best possible preparation for a very tough game on Saturday when the opportunity to train as a team is limited by the international break.

Because it's so obviously simplistic bullshine that I didn't think it would be ventured as some kind of pointer to the result of this Saturday's game.

I'm literally staggered that it's been mentioned as some sort of worthwhile metric. Still, you live and learn hehe

I thought you'd been around here for a while Gadget, the only fans that can literally invent new stats and numerous other ways to prove how awesome they are.

What was the one I saw posted a few months ago, most shots on target using the left foot whilst passed to with the right foot after a throw in between September 20th and October 13th or something like that.

Stats stats, glorious stats... some clubs have 10 charges of irregularty against them others have 115... can make a stat out of anything really.
