We needed to loan him out, not sell him. He's a point man, we asked too much of him. Well done Danny, made up for him.
he's not as good as falcao, rvp ,rooney is the simple fact,he agitated for the move ,so good luck to him.Everytime he scores it will be rubbed in our nose, likewise everytime he falls over in front of the goal like he did against spurs we will say 'hahaha'.I assume the question was, was he the future...or will we just spend a shed load on the next shiny thing. I guess that was answered and Arsenal will get the reward.

It's an interesting one though...of those 3 you've got a hired merc who's coming off a serious knee injury, another into his 30's that is also injury prone and has had 2 good seasons out of what 10? and the other that has looked a shadow of his former self for quite a while now.

Or the manager and staff identified a youth striker who is a better prospect and made him 4th choice ahead of DW.I assume the question was, was he the future...or will we just spend a shed load on the next shiny thing. I guess that was answered and Arsenal will get the reward.
Falcao has already stated he wants to stay for many years.
Rooney has 3 in 6 this season.
But hey when have you ever let facts get in your way?

Our reward is watching better players, and having a much bigger talent in Wilson hopefully coming through .I assume the question was, was he the future...or will we just spend a shed load on the next shiny thing. I guess that was answered and Arsenal will get the reward.
I'm sure he will do well at arsenal ,but he would be 5th choice at united is the inescapable truth.
What is wrong with buying top players ? First time since Ronaldo left I actually look forward to watching the games ,watching proper world class players perform ,not some young talent that fails to develop.

I'm not criticizing the whole build vs. buy philosophy (most clubs, especially the big sides always buy) it's just a bit of a shame that it's the way of football at big clubs.

How do you know that he won't become world class? You talk about Wilson, but he'll most likely go the same way...why play an untested kid when you've got RVP, Falcao and Rooney to play ahead of him? Or just buy the next big name in a year or two?

agree ,its a shame, but its the way the game is.If you wait for talent to develop you will be left behind,UNited being the prime example with a lack of investment in proven quality over recent years ,resulting in lots of buying and bringing through of potential which in reality has just not developed. With the exception of ronaldo and de gea which young talent have united produced in recent years comparable to giggs, scholes, beckham etc ?I'm not criticizing the whole build vs. buy philosophy (most clubs, especially the big sides always buy) it's just a bit of a shame that it's the way of football at big clubs.

Wilson is 5 years younger than Danny Wellbeck. At 18 he is already pushing for a starting place. RvP has maybe 2 seasons at a push left at the top.I'm not criticizing the whole build vs. buy philosophy (most clubs, especially the big sides always buy) it's just a bit of a shame that it's the way of football at big clubs.
It's not the way at Utd though, we have had to make up for some years of under investment, but if you look at our first eleven there Rafa, Jones and Smalling who all came to us young and we have progressed through the ranks. Add in Wilson, Januzaj, Blackett, Lingard and you'll see that we are far from the worst offenders.
Take a peek at how many young players Chelsea have bought, chucked out on loan and then sold on, they are doing it wrong, we are not.
Just to be pedantic, Jones came to you as an 18 year old. Not sure you can say he's progressed through the ranks!
But I agree, whilst not many of your youth seem to be right at the top of the Utd standard, you've had a few make it into your squad, so you seem to be one of the better teams still at progressing youth.

Indeed, I think the Class of 92 distorted everyones view of it somewhat, we cannot churn quality like that out each generation (I wish we could) so we do have to buy. However as per Jones, De Gea when we do buy young its with a plan to integrate them into the first team pretty quickly so its not harming their career as much as a move to City or Chelsea where they may well be forgotten about.
