I really rate Origi.. sadly for him he is always going to be overshadowed by our other front three as first choice selection, However he certainly offers us
something different with his height and different style to the other three.. He has a knack of scoring very important goals for us at crucial times, Klopp has
obviously convinced him he has a part to play this season for us and believes he is good enough for us otherwise he would have moved on, Give the lad
game time and he will deliver, I'm sure of it.
I agree that he is useful and offers us something different, which will be needed sometimes! And that he has got some critical goals. More just a comment if we want to play same style as last season most games and need to rest ‘main 3’ A bit more this year then he’s not a like for like replacement in style. But sure Klopp imhas planned for it anyway - either one of the young lads sometimes, or perhaps a change in setup again - like he did last year. something different with his height and different style to the other three.. Is Gomez likely to get much game time this season for you? Fantasy football time...
I think Matip will start, purely as his last 10 games for us he was as good as anyone.... Shame for Gomez as he has real talent but Matip made himself undroppable in the last 1/4 of the season.

If he can stay injury free, then I'd think he and Matip will be pushing each other hard. Lovren is a fair way behind in the pecking order.
Yes he was first choice before his injury, but Matip is the incumbent.Given the choice I would select him, but I am always wrong.
It's an uncanny knack I have.
Matip/Gomez - I would imagine it at least in part comes down to who looks the fitter and sharper now, not what happened at the end of last season. Although it was good to see Matip get his form back. Matip. Lovren and Gomez all benefit from partnering van Dijk; they all need him to take charge of the defence.

I'm beginning to feel uneasy about our lack of progress in the transfer market.
Echoes of 2005 when we failed to capitalise on our CL win.
from what I can gather he is finding it hard to get them in - as odd as that sounds, the players we want see themselves as 1st teamers so want guarantees, for the positions we are looking at we cant give them so are struggling. Echoes of 2005 when we failed to capitalise on our CL win.
My major worry is wideforward, ideally need 1 who can cover both but easier said than done.

Maybe they've decided we've got enough "squad members" and only want to sign players near the top of the tree.Echoes of 2005 when we failed to capitalise on our CL win.
It would make me feel better if we signed someone as well.
I am going to the Norwich game and I've already decided its going to be our first home defeat in the league for ages.
Regarding Matip/Gomez - I think we'll start the season with Matip and VVD as the CB pairing, as a continuation of last season/reward for the CL finals performances. But it probably won't be too many weeks before Matip picks up an injury and Gomez reclaims his spot.
As for transfers. A number of our journos at the start of the summer said that we shouldn't expect high profile signings. Just a couple of youth signings in the sub £20m range. That's exactly what's happened so far...

I can understand that to some extent.
It's a career gamble on the off chance of ousting Mane, Firmino or Salah. Not easy!
I wanted Pepe. He'd have been ideal. Arsenal was a strange choice.
As was Betis for Fekir. I'd have been back in for him at less than £20M too.
I really hope there's something in the pipeline.

Pepe will have wanted gaurantees of 1st team football - come to us sit on the bench unless we play a cup or one of our main boys is injured for 100k a weekIt's a career gamble on the off chance of ousting Mane, Firmino or Salah. Not easy!

Yeah no doubt. No CL for him though.
1 year of no that but help them get in it, or come in and be someones understudy we dont need a massive shake up of our team, we need cover for poss 2 of our most important players - Salah / Mane - who realistically is good enough who will come and be understudy - hard one for us I think- mainly as we dont pay silly wages, Mahrez went to City and got 200k , thats more than Salah or VVD - Rashford is on more than those 2.
City look to be losing Sane (not happy being understudy)

1 year? I'd be surprised if Arsenal get top 4.
Their defence is still non existent.
Are they offloading Aubameyang? There was talk of that. Madness if so.
maybe they have told him plans of new defenders coming in to ? who really knows - id just rather be playing if i was 24 following best season i have had than being cover for someone Their defence is still non existent.

and no not seen that anywhere

Where are you getting that from? It all flies in the face of every word Klopp has said about this window. He's even said big money transfers are not possible this time (when asked about bring Coutinho back). My major worry is wideforward, ideally need 1 who can cover both but easier said than done.
