Peter Risdale. You'll find football has moved on considerably since.

There's a world of a difference between over reaching ourselves and having made a profit in transfer dealings window after window.

Champions League football, record tv money, bigger stadium, one of the best coaches in the world, profit after profit in the last 3 seasons windows...

Klopp at the end of the season stated all the targets had been identified etc. Not giving him a proper pre season because our transfer team is a farce and we're low balling offers when we've been told what he'd cost (Keita) or reinventing transfers and planning on telling the selling club how much we've bought their star player for (Virgil) is something special.

Still fill your boots on the failure from Hull.
When you buy a car and the salesman says "its 20k" or whatever, do you say "I'll have it and here's 20k" or do you haggle? I haggle, most people haggle. Clubs haggle. I agree our transfer team, or someone there, needs a kicking for the crap over Van Dijk that's happened this summer but that's all, I can see.

And Klopp wanted the "failure from Hull" apparently, so perhaps you'd like to say hes a farce too... I'm not filling my boots over his signing anyway, I've already said more than once I have little interest in transfers - more keen to that they succeed, whoever they are.

Yes fans like RT that wanted Klopp whilst others kept saying he was out of our league.

I'm not the one that reinvented football transfers then was forced to write a grovelling apology. Or banned from signing any kids because of our antics.

We've scraped 4th. Our squad was threadbare. To improve it we need new first 11 players. So far we have Salah and Barcelona courting Coutinho with an opening bid of 72 million. If that is the exchange then we're weaker for it.

As for the ex Hull reject. Give over, he'd do well to get a game at Huddersfield or Palace never mind compete to be first choice left back at a team with ambitions to challenge for the title.

I'll believe Keita and VvD if they happen though my instincts say we'll more likely lose Sakho, Countinho, Moreno and a few other squad fillers like Stewart and at the end of it all we'll still be in a positive transfer spend.

At least Coutinho isn't training on his own. Though regardless of what Klopp says, I think FSG will sell at c85million.
I certainly never said that. Although the fact we signed Klopp does tend to suggest FSG going for the cheapest thing to make a profit isn't true.

I suspect it was one stupid employee rather than FSG who leaked the price. So I'd put it down to someone taking to make a quick few quid selling to a newspaper. Not much FSG can do about that apart from get rid of the person if they find out who it was.

You say we're bidding cheap (Keita for example) and yet it seems we have bid their asking price and they are still saying no. Not much you can do with a club doing that. And would you approve of a signing who has done well for a season in another league for that kind of money? Or would you say it could be better spent elsewhere? I doubt PC would be sold for that price when you consider we are trying to buy Keita for similar money, yet PC is proven for us. There would be absolutely no point in selling decent for unknown for the same price.

I never said anything about the Hull player - but to be honest I don't care. He is not first team, and so then he's providing some depth that you keep complaining about. To be honest Klopp must be an idiot - if your reasoning is correct he has no money to buy anyone other than relegation leftovers, and yet still stays with the club. I'd have been out of there if that was me, before it damaged my reputation. So he's either doing it for the money (ironic if he is since we don't use money as it's all about profit?) or he actually is the one making the decisions on who to sign or not sign.

FSG could spend 1 billion in this window and you'd still find something to moan about.

Done well at Basle.
Signed by Chelsea where he didn't get really get a chance like some players don't.
Loaned to Fiorentina as Cuadrado went the other way and he impressed.
Fiorentina wanted him to stay there but he chose not to and went to Roma where his stats are quite good.
See how he does in the prem this season.

I'll be gutted if we don't sign VvD but Sakho will be given a second chance.
If we don't sign Keita we have Henderson/ Can/ Wijnaldum/ Lallana/ Coutinho all to play in the middle three.
He brings depth and class if we do sign him.
He's Klopp's choice so I don't think there will be a 2nd choice mdfielder who we will go for.

Sakho won't be given another chance.

If we do go back in for VvD and land him, I for one would be very happy with our transfer business this window. Just VvD along with Salah, we have addressed to huge issues in our team. Our squad would also look much stronger with a few sprinklings of talented youth. A nice balance.

Keita would be the icing but if we don't get him, then ok. Spending money for moneys sake on someone lesser is just stupid. Klopp would rather much work with our existing squad. Coutinho could make a difference in midfield which if he did play there probably means Can and Wijnaldum on the bench along with Lovren not to mention Sturridge and Origi. 1st team and squad looking the strongest it has been in years.

Players like Roberston, Solanke, TAA, Ings and Woodburn have the youth, ability and desire to be in and around the 1st team. For me at least, things are looking up. Just need to land VvD and we will have a decent all round team.

Thats assuming Coutinho (or his agent) won't throw the toys out of the pram and force through the move to Barca.

If Neymar really is off to PSG...

I agree - they normally get their man. And if it edges up to 100 million then it would have to be considered.

I really like him as a player but in the end money will talk.

Nothing has suggested Coutinho is that sort of personality. He's said time and again how much he and his family are settled in Liverpool and that he's not looking to move at the moment. I don't doubt he will go at some stage if he wants to try Spain but not this Summer.

Agree with all that but VvD throwing his toys out of the pram makes me wish we had another CH on our radar instead.

Not TOO surprising that Leicester have just gone 1-0 up, thanks to a cross and header, what WAS surprising is that there are Hong Kong Chinese with Leicester shirts on cheering away...

Lovely goal by Salah - pass to Coutinho outside the box, little lob in to the box for a running Salah to head in.
